I edited this trailer for American Ice Theatre’s full-length show, “re:member”. I am so proud of how this edit came together, and just beyond grateful that I get to do this kind of work! Hope you enjoy AND if you're in Cleveland or Chicago this weekend, you can catch the show live :) Deets & tickets! ⬇️

“re:member” brings awareness to something from the past. It is a contemporary skating performance where professional contemporary skating artists push the boundaries of traditional figure skating. Audiences are invited to join in an open skate jam and class after the show to learn how to move and glide like the artists!

The American Contemporary Skating Festival is here again (starting today!), and it's always something I deeply look forward to.

This four-day gathering is a haven for those passionate about expanding the art of figure skating. Skaters from around the world come together to connect, create, and learn—both on and off the ice—in an intimate, collaborative environment. Across all backgrounds and abilities, we inspire and uplift each other through shared expression.

The Ice Is Our Home is a piece I edited and color corrected a few years ago to honor this community. Though it’s been shared before, I’ve never shared it myself—and as the festival returns, it feels meaningful to finally do so. It’s a tribute to the passion, vulnerability, and artistry that lives in every movement, and to the feeling of home we find on the ice and in one another.

The festival closes with a showcase (see previous post for details!).

Something new for this year's collection...

There are spaces that continue to echo through us, even as we move beyond them.

The Rink That Knew Me is a reflection on home, discipline, and the space that witnessed me across the years. Filmed near the close of my formative time on this ice, this piece moves through the emotional currents of those years: exhilaration, doubt, breakthroughs, frustration, and growth. A building rhythm marks their passage, arriving at the beginning of what comes next.

The Rink That Knew Me revealed itself as a sister to Flow State; two pieces pulling fragments from different chapters of the same journey.

The pace shifted and the years spun by. Like with Flow State, this footage was left on a shelf for years, life was life-ing, I moved out of state, and found new rinks along the way… thinking back to where you come from matters. by @torieskates

...during my college years at the rink I called my second home, a friend and I thought to show my outlet and use it for a personal film, which ended up going in another direction. Movement and framing were explored naturally, and enough was gathered for me to later cut, though I couldn’t yet visualize this piece the way I visualize my jumps, only the takeoff. by @torieskates
