Happy 50th Birthday to our iconic CN Tower! 🏙️✨ Swipe for a trip back to the '70s to see the construction of Toronto’s skyline icon. 👉

Back in the 1960s, Toronto’s rapid boom of new skyscrapers began blocking local radio and TV signals. To fix it, the Canadian National Railway Company decided to build a structure so tall it would clear the airwaves. 📡 It took over 1,500 workers pulling 24-hour shifts for 40 months to complete before it officially opened to the public on June 26, 1976. ⚒️

Today, it’s evolved from a massive telecommunications hub into an international bucket list icon. 🙌 Standing tall at 553.33 meters, it welcomes over 2 million visitors a year, lights up the city in 16.7 million colors, and remains one of the most recognizable engineering marvels in the world. 🇨🇦 (📸: @cntower, 290 Bremner Blvd) #Toronto #TorontoBucketList taken in Toronto, Ontario by @toronto_insta

It’s official: Toronto has one of the most stunning nighttime views on the planet! 🏙️✨ A new 2026 study by Travelbag ranked the world’s prettiest cities at night, and Toronto took the #6 spot globally sitting alongside heavy hitters like Tokyo, NYC, and Singapore as one of the most visually striking spots after dark. 🌌

The study looked at Instagram hashtags, light pollution, and the number of massive skyscrapers (we have 108 over 150m tall!). Whether it’s the CN Tower colors reflecting over Lake Ontario, or the neon lit spots like Yonge-Dundas Square, our city’s glow is officially world-class. 🥂 Do you think we should have been ranked even higher? 👇 #Toronto #TorontoBucketList #Skyline taken in Toronto, Ontario by @toronto_insta
