Two of our favourite 4x4s from The Willy Michiels Collection.

First, a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 GD, an early W460-series G-Class finished in Fir Green and equipped with a 3.0-litre five-cylinder diesel, five-speed manual transmission and heavy-duty off-road specification.

Alongside it, a 1992 Toyota J70 Land Cruiser, a three-door workhorse powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine, with two passenger seats and a large rear cargo area.

Two very different approaches to the utilitarian 4x4, both offered without reserve as part of The Willy Michiels Collection.

The car that Big Sugar built.

Founded by engineer Noel Macklin and businessman Oliver Lyle, whose family made its fortune through the Tate & Lyle sugar empire, Invicta built some of Britain’s most distinctive sporting cars of the pre-war era.

This 1931 4½-Litre S-Type ‘Low Chassis’ Sports combines Invicta’s sophisticated low-slung chassis with a potent 4½-litre six-cylinder engine and elegant Vanden Plas coachwork.
