Great Smokey Mountain NP
- You were so good to us. ♥️🌲🐻

Torrey and I literally prayed this morning at 6:40 am as we entered the park, and asked God if He would allow us to spot a Bear. Just one! 1️⃣

55 minutes in, and very deep into Cade’s Cove we’d seen nothing. I remembered reading one of the articles the night before and it said to take “Hyatt Lane” off of the cove, so we did. About 5 minutes off road and all by ourselves Torrey screamed, “i think I see one in the trees!” (4th photo)

No way was that a 🐻Bear 🙈 but we hopped out of the car to zoom in with our phones and take a closer look.

COULD IT BE THAT GOD WOULD ALLOW US TO SPOT THIS BEAR BEFORE ANYONE ELSE? Yelp! That bear was snacking in the tree.

We sat and watched him for about 30 minutes, grabbing photos and video as best as we could through the bush — we were so thankful! As cars drove by we shared our joy with the few others that stopped and asked what we spotted. They stopped to join us.

‼️AS WE WERE ALL JUST ABOUT TO LEAVE from the trail behind us comes Momma Bear and her cub … ♥️ she literally walked 4 feet in front of us making her way to the field right towards the Bear in the tree!

When she arrived almost to the brush she turns back to come towards us (we think she was leaving her scent) as she and the 1st cub head into the thick wildflower brush! We had no idea what was about to happen . . .

We turn to look behind us again … and just as we do out onto the road two more cubs cross in front of us. Whining and grunting trying to find momma. They scurried all around our vehicle as if they were confused and disoriented…

Finally picking up her scent right where she went into the thick brush they frolicked and leaped in front of us. It was THE BEST BEAR DANCE EVER ‼️(5th frame video)

It was truly a moment we will cherish and I absolutely know God answered this prayer and even answered it above our expectations! (Ephesians 3:20)

GOD IS SO GOOD!

God created the four seasons, each carrying its own beauty, purpose, and unique attributes. From pruning to planting, from blooming to harvest, every season holds significance in its own right.

The seasons of our lives are much the same. There are seasons when we plant, seasons we harvest, seasons when we bloom, and seasons when God allows us to be pruned. Some seasons feel fruitful, while others may feel quiet, difficult, or even uncomfortable. BUT — just as the seasons move in a God-ordained rhythm, so does the cycle of our lives in His purpose. In every season, we can trust that God is working things together for our good. - Ecclesiastes 3:1

Today we cheer Pastor Amanda into her next Kingdom assignment.

Amanda is a rockstar! For the last 4 (almost 5) years she has been a high capacity member of our pastoral team, with an unmatched desire to disciple others, and a genuine love for kids ministry with evidence of sustained fruitfulness here at NHC! Her vision and implementation for VBS the last 4years has been one of the best I’ve ever witnessed and that legacy will continue.

It’s a bitter sweet season . . . Amanda said YES to another ministry position in Ohio, but we know her thumbprint will remain a part of our future for years to come.

Amanda, from Pastor Torrey and I personally and on behalf of NHC “thank you” for investing in all our lives. We are soooo very proud of you! We are celebrating this next season God has for you - knowing He has a good plan and we can’t wait to watch it unfold.

Thankful to hear Noah speak last night at The Torch. We love every chance we get to snag a hug, and cheer him on as he uses his gift for God.

Also, thanks to Pastor Scott and his team for hosting us. It’s always a pleasure to be around he and his wife Holly- they are great people.

Thankful for the body of Christ. Different locations - same mission.

My Gurl has a heart of GOLD! The purest, kindest, most thoughtful and intentional person I know.

And now, to watch you thrive in motherhood brings us so much joy. Sky is truly very blessed to have you as her Mom. Your desire to already teach her about Jesus, and hosting little “praise parties” in the living room, is the start of something money can’t buy. ♥️ it brings us so much joy to watch you parent.

And behind the scenes of our personal ministry, you are a steadfast contributor and doer. Your gifts are too numerous to highlight- we just thank God you’re using them for His glory.

I love you so much Karson. Thankful God gave us YOU.

It’s been a minute since I gave God THANKS for all the things he’s going through our son @noahherrin

In my humble opinion, there is nothing more rewarding than watching your children use their God given gifts and talents for Kingdom purposes. Watching this kid remain fruitful in and out of seasons, both good and tough, has encouraged me beyond reason.
(Your faith encourages others)

I am also continually reminded that PRAYER WORKS! Back in the days of leading Moms 4 Him in Florida, I knew God was nudging me to add a monthly “prayer walk” to our already scheduled Bible studies. These friends and partners in spiritual formation, rallied with me and we didn’t miss a month for over 7 years!!! (THANK YOU LADIES) We prayed, and declared God’s promises over our children and our children’s children and He answered.

🙏🏼I hope this is encouragement to some younger Mom — you don’t have to do everything right, you don’t always have to have all the right advice- but you can partner with GOD and watch Him keep His promises according to Ephesians, 3:20!

I am so very proud of you Noah! You have practiced humility and stayed faithful to obey God. “Obedience is better than sacrifice” and I KNOW God is only getting started. There is much more coming …

We loved being in Nashville this weekend celebrating the beautiful wedding of Kate & Wells! And look at our adorable kiddos and grandchildren who do an amazing job.

We also were able to attend services at Way Church - and a Monday morning staff meeting with the team. We loved every minute! Now back to Georgia - here we come … (thank God we have one grand back home!) ♥️

The Church of God has been a part of my life for 52 years. I was 5 years old when dad and mom landed in a local COG in Maryland, and the rest is history. The people I’ve done life with along the way are so special - one of a kind. From local and state pastors and youth pastors, overseers, now fellow pastors and leaders, Lee University professors and friends, my life has been enriched by these relationships.

I pray God’s blessing, wisdom, anointing and favor continue upon the Church of God. I pray we stand strong on the foundation of ABSOLUTE TRUTH (God’s word) and never waiver from it. I pray God continue to “cleanse this temple/COG” for the glory of God. Abide with us Lord, helping, sustaining and empowering us to leave fruit that remains.

Thankful for time with my BFF last night . . . dinner at The Colombia, ice cream at Kilwin’s, walked and lingered in downtown Celebration. The feeling of nostalgia grips your heart when you repeat in the future, what you frequented in the past. We loved 16 years here in central Florida, and so many precious memories with our kids Noah & Karson belong here 🥲

. . . it seems like a lifetime ago!

Life is peculiar! Our individual steps so often intersect our past that remind us — God is good‼️

Thank you God for these past moments and memories, for friendships that last a lifetime, and for Cuban & Spanish food.
