This is extremely difficult for me to ask, but I am at a breaking point. I’m asking for help to pay for my mother’s care. My mom is 91 years old, wheelchair bound, completely incontinent, on oxygen 24/7, and in cognitive decline, so full-time care in an assisted living facility is an absolute necessity. But, as I’m sure many of you know, that kind of care comes with a hefty price tag attached. After paying for her assisted living for over two years plus my own medical bills and other emergency expenses, my resources have run dry, and the bills are piling up.I've done everything I can for my mom and I've done it almost entirely by myself. I have no family besides her, no partner, children, or local friends able to help me out with anything. Trying to handle everything while coping with physical disabilities and a multitude of health problems has been exhausting. I'm just so tired. Tired of fighting with insurance companies, with assisted living facilities, with banks, with collection agencies, and with doctors' offices. So, I'm putting myself out here, asking for help; for financial help, of course, but almost just as important right now, help to make me feel that I'm not on my own, that someone, somewhere has my back. When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. I've been admiring @tiny_dragon_dice for a while and when she started working on a series of dice based on characters from @critical_role campaign 4, I was absolutely fascinated by the process involved with each set. I am in love with so many of the characters, but have found myself really identifying with the dwarven divination wizard Murray Mag'nesson (short, round, buxom, red haired, mouthy, I can't imagine why) played by @marisha_ray So I knew which set I had to get.They arrived today and I couldn't be happier with them. They're gorgeous. 😍 Now if I could only get my Murray cosplay issues sorted so I can wear her for NYCC in October. If anyone knows of an affordable, reliable person to commission, please let me know. by @total_janarchy

Ok, this is annoying. I posted this before and it... disappeared. Then it reappeared AFTER I posted this one. Instagram is clearly on Spice. So, on Saturday of #treklongisland2026 I went to the vendor's room. Someone had mentioned that @pendragoncostumes were selling there. Back in February at Gallifrey One, I had finally gotten up the courage to try on one of their corset dresses. (I'd chickened out in years prior because of finances and self-esteem issues). I had been shocked at the size I fit into because I hadn't seen that number since the '80s. I had been indecisive about which fabric I wanted (Doctor Who? Star Trek? Marvel?) and so hadn't gotten back to the dealers room in time. This time, to my utter surprise, my size had gone down even further (Go Team Ozempic! Please don't lecture me about that -- I've got type 2 and it's done wonders for me. I've also had serious health problems over the last 3.5 years and lost weight that way. Kind of hard to eat when you can't walk 10 feet, let alone to the kitchen, before you're screaming in pain. No, I do not recommend it. )Anyway, there weren't a lot of choices left in that size, but I really love a red/black design (even if I'm not a Scorpio) and this one really made me feel like a pretty pretty princess. Thankfully I had some "mad money" from doing surveys and group marketing things, so I bought myself a "my mom died 6 weeks ago, my life is shit, and this makes me feel pretty" present. I have my Pelia crop tank underneath because I was wearing the full cosplay when I tried the dress on. I'll probably get a mesh shirt to wear underneath (because I'm too old to be falling out of clothes unfortunately). Funnily enough, because I had the Pelia wig and boots on, I felt like an alt version of River Song in "Let's Kill Hitler". I may have to do an "Impossible Astronaut" Western River cosplay in future. It was nice to see I actually have a shape vs feeling like Jabbette the Hutt. To quote Scanlan Shorthalt about Wicander Halovar "Sure, I'd hit it." 😂 I don't know where I'll wear it, but I will. Now I just need a job so I can pay off other bills, and get a Doctor Who print dress next year. by @total_janarchy

I don't think I've ever shown this before other than with celebrities. It's my Deanna Troi Picard S3 look. Partially because I thought I looked so bad in the past. New wig, and weight loss helped. The right Delta is on there, and I have rank pips but I was too lazy to put them on. Sunday was kind of a disaster. I meant to get up early to get my NYCC tickets at 10 am, then go and actually see some panels. I set my alarm but despite that, I woke up at 1 pm. Frantically went to the NYCC site, and of course all 4 day passes were sold out, so I had to buy 4 single day passes which cost $80 more. But at least I'm going, and at least there was no waiting in the queue. By the time I was ready to leave my room, it was too late for any panels, so I just went to the vendors room and did some damage, then hung out in the hallway chatting with people I hadn't seen all weekend. The jacket is by Asal Vision, the wig by @lush_wigs , and the boots are SA Blundstone 063s (I bought them for way below retail on eBay!). So, I suck at taking full body selfies, and I had to take one glove off to take the photo, but here's the Andorian. (Insta cut it off my feet here, and when I tried to do a multi shot, it cut my head off of both. 🤷🏼‍♀️ ) My Andorian still needs a name. After those two photos, I rushed back to my room, managed a quick change, and dressed as Chief Engineer Pelia from Strange New Worlds. Chris Myers ( @chrismyersinc ) who played the ill-fated Ensign Gamble last season really liked it when he saw it. So did Dan Jeonotte ( @dan.jeannotte ) who plays Sam Kirk. That felt good. The two of them were supposed to be together as a group which is why I opted for that vs individuals. Celia Rose Gooding ( @celiargooding ) was not included in the listing when I bought it, which is why I got an individual pic with them as well, but then they joined in with the other two anyway which was nice. They are absolutely stunning. Okay, all three of them are gorgeous. My wig was again from Amazon, the jacket from Cosermart on eBay. Insignia from Fan Sets, leggings and boots from Torrid. The other pin which tug can't really see was from a seller on Etsy. It's similar in shape to the one Carol Kane wears on the show. My next photo op was with the DS9 group. I really had wanted to do separate photos with each of them but finances are tight as was time. The main reason I dressed as an Andorian was that when Jeffrey Combs was announced as a guest, @stefaniegangone and I were talking about how he was 7 guests in one. I mentioned how much I loved Shran (a recurring character on Star Trek: Enterprise) as a character, and she sort of challenged me to be an Andorian. I accepted. I was very nervous meeting all three of them: Nana Visitor, Jeffrey Combs, and Nicole de Boer. It's no secret that DS9 is my favorite Trek after TOS and I've never seen any of them at cons. Unfortunately I didn't get to sign up for any of their add-on programs or get to their panels due to timing and other stupidity on my part. 🙁Jeffrey Combs' face lit up when he saw my cosplay, and he and Nicole de Boer both complimented me, and I made a joke about "pink skins" then we had to take the photo. I was so nervous that I didn't get a chance to say anything to Nana Visitor (and Kira Nerys is one of my favorite characters too, along with the Intendent, plus her connection to Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin) so she probably thought I was a rude bish. *sigh* I'm so sorry, Nana! Last week was rough. The weekend only slightly better. I went to Trek Long Island late on Friday despite having planned to be there Thursday night. I had to squeeze all my photos ops on Saturday because of the stupid NYCC ticket sale on Sunday. Otherwise I'd have split them up. I fell asleep on Friday night before midnight, then woke up at 4 am and couldn't go back to sleep. At 9 am I started putting together my Andorian cosplay. I've never done face or body painting before so was nervous AF. Plus I hadn't actually tried to put it all together before. The antennae is a 3D print from a place in the UK it was reasonably cheap (like $20) but the shipping to the US was something astronomical. Thankfully a UK friend bought it for me and brought it with him to Gally for me. I've had it since February, so of course I painted it in Wednesday night. I glued it together on Thursday.One of my antennae came loose on the way to the hotel so I had to reglue it on Friday night. (Thankfully it held). It took a while to do the makeup because I'd bought a Mehron cream stick and those don't set on their own which means using setting powder on top of it. Otherwise it smears. all over everything, and it's a process. In the end, I think it turned out pretty good. I have to paint the headband white to hide it in the wig since my only other option would be to cut holes in the wig to stick it through. Painting seems easier. The body and gloves are from @welovecolours. I know some people are boycotting them due to AI use, but all the alternatives suggested to me lacked the colors I needed and the sizes I needed. I'm also not in a place to custom dye anything. Unfortunately the suit's neck is loose, and it has a funny fold on the neckband I can't get out. So, I think I may just cut it off entirely. I also need to shorten the sleeves a bit.The dress is from @uniquevintage , and it mostly worked. My boots were silver ankle boots I bought off vinted, the wig a cheap one from Amazon. All the guests who saw it said nice things about the cosplay. What the what? I wrote a caption and it disappeared? Anyway, ma, look what I made! I really hope this cosplay looks ok and not terrible. I've been packing and found almost everything I need, but my blue Her Universe Vintage dress is missing. I can't find it anywhere. I promised myself I would not freak out and spend all night looking for it. It's already 9:30 pm, and I want to get to the hotel before 5 am.
