Last week was an incredible, much-needed respite to finally unplug, unwind, and spend some quality time with family. A week full of game nights, bonfires, and a variety of watercraft made a fun, eventful week out in nature to rejuvenate the soul. Nanny & Papa would be so happy to see us carrying on the family tradition.

Six months married to my favorite person.

It has been the single greatest honor of my life to be your husband, yet it feels so incredibly congruous with the past 7 years together. We’ve always acted like an old married couple, so it’s hard to say it feels like anything substantially different. But embarking on this new chapter has been every bit as loving, joyful, and caring as all the chapters before it. The tax break and the shared healthcare are nice pluses too. I can’t wait for a lifetime ahead full of equally fun adventures and silly moments of little joy and supporting each other through everything life throws our way. We said goodbye to an incredible woman this week. My beloved grandmother, affectionately known in our family as Nanny, from the Italian “nonna,” passed away last week after years of battling ovarian cancer, and more recently neuropathy and COVID. She was truly a lover and a fighter. She fought cancer hard, and loved her family even harder. While her memorial service was of course not without mourning and grief, it was overwhelmingly filled with sharing countless cherished memories with her and Papa. She loved bringing us all together for family reunions and vacations, and in true Italian-American form, you were never allowed to leave Nanny & Papa’s house without a plateful of leftovers. She was someone who never let that spark in her fade, carrying it with her until her final days, and always encouraged our creativity and appreciation for the arts. She had such a strong, profound presence in all of our lives, and leaves behind such a big hole that may take quite some time to get used to. She was so full of life that it’s hard to even be in that house without expecting her to walk into the living room at any moment. But we’ll always carry on in our hearts the love, passion, and tenacity she always instilled in us. taken in New Fairfield, Connecticut by @totallykyle.mus
