Hearing protection isn’t something we’re really educated about, but it’s super important, especially because once your hearing is damaged, it’s irreversible.

I learned that the hard way, so I really want to help spread more awareness.

I don’t want to sound like a mum, but if you’re doing @yourshotau this weekend, please wear some sort of hearing protection.

If you don’t have any, I’ll be carrying spare earplugs around, so just come and ask.

I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I’m playing my first ever DJ set on Saturday 11th of July at The Court 🎧✨

I’m very nervous, excited and honestly a little scared. I’m getting the opportunity to play in front of a crowd, something I never thought I’d be doing so soon, and I would be so grateful to have some familiar faces in the crowd to look out to while I’m performing 🤍

Hii, my name is River 👋🎧

Back in May, I got selected for a DJ competition and I don’t think it fully sank in just how incredible this opportunity was.

So, I’ve decided to make this account to document my journey from a complete beginner to my debut set on the 11th of July.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing the highs, the struggles, the wins, the mistakes, and everything I learn along the way.

I have no idea where this journey will take me, but I’m so excited to see what happens.

I wasn’t sure whether to post this because I didn’t want it to come across as bragging. But I also wanted to share it because I put so many hours into making this happen, and I’m really proud of how it all turned out.

One thing I’m incredibly grateful for is the support from my friends and family. I’m always there for the people I care about, and seeing that same support come back to me has meant more than I can put into words.

Outside of that, I work in sales, where building relationships and creating a pipeline is a huge part of my job. I decided to apply those same skills to this. It was draining, alot of hours, awkward messages, the follow ups, and the self doubt are all worth it when you finally see everything come together. But I’ll make a video to show all the spreadsheets I had behind this method 😂

Thank you to everyone who supported me. I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️

My first time ever playing infront of people last week at the @naberbarleederville 🫨🫨🫨

I felt so fkn scared but my favourite part of the night was seeing all my friends from @yourshotau come in throughout the set and I’m truly grateful 🥹🫶

Also so proud of how far I’ve come in short amount of time, it’s not perfect but I’m amazed at how fkn far I’ve come in 5 weeks.

You only get one set of ears. Protect them before it’s too late!

I learned the hard way, and I really wish someone had told me years ago that hearing protection isn’t optional. I’m now living with the consequences 😢

Just posting a my training method/ warm up method for anyone who is doing @yourshotau like me and struggling to wrap their heads around phrasing, cueing songs, playing songs (idk what you call it)….hope this helps 🙏🙏😅
