🌈Pride Confession Booth 2025 @blueridgepride
This went so much better than we could have dreamed up. 💛

Editing this was emotional. We heard stories of love, of grief, of pride, of empowerment. We laughed, we cried, and somewhere in the middle of it all, we fell in love with every single human who trusted us enough to share their stories with us. ✨

🏳️‍⚧️ It’s Trans Awareness Month, and this felt like a reminder that pride isn’t a season. It lives in the everyday moments when people show up exactly as they are.

Everyone who stepped into that booth knew their words would be shared on social media. They still chose vulnerability. They still chose truth. And we’re so grateful. Thank you to each person who stepped inside, took a breath, and let us in. 🤍And huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this booth happen.

This is Totem. A place where strangers become community through the stories we’re brave enough to tell. 🌿

Keep checking back for these shares over the next couple of months.
If you want to join spaces like this, the sign-up link is in our bio. 💬✨

We’re still feeling the warmth from this event 💛

So many incredible women and allies stopped by our self-care table run by @icanthearcassandra , shared stories, laughed, connected… it was one of those spaces where you can feel what community actually means in real time.

Thank you to @qusqobistro for inviting Totem.org to be part of EmpowerHER. Truly the kind of night that reminds us why these spaces matter and why we keep showing up.

Honored to witness the magic of so many powerful voices and creators:
@jitlada_la (still not over this one 🥹), @yucasla, @cuernavacasgrill_, @unitsi_ai, @boroses, @deedeewoche, and the incredible @queen.lyfe of @righttrackfilm

And a special moment hearing from Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez 💫

Food, music, storytelling, sisterhood… all woven together in the most beautiful way.

Sending love and big congratulations to @jitlada_la on 20 years and @yucasla on 50. What a legacy. What a night ✨

Extra special thank you to @icanthearcassandra for being the badass, empowered woman you are and for showing up and representing Totem with so much heart. We’re lucky to have you 💛

Content note: sexual assault, consent, and sexual harm.

My name is Heather, and I’m the human behind this Instagram account.

Today, it felt strange trying to think of something to post while the news coming out of Cornell has been swirling around my feed, mind, and body.

As a woman who has experienced SA, and as someone who is once again watching a conversation unfold about consent, accountability, and whose safety gets protected, it felt wrong to say nothing.

So we’re entering the conversation in the way we know how.

These slides aren’t meant to explain what happened or tell anyone how to feel. They’re prompts for reflection and conversation.
For women. For men. For survivors. For friends, partners, parents, and anyone trying to understand what creating a safer culture actually asks of us.

And I want to say something clearly on behalf of Totem:

If you come into one of our sessions and share that you have experienced sexual violence, we believe you.
Your safety matters to us.
You will not be asked to prove your pain in order to deserve care here.
We hope these questions give people somewhere to begin. taken in Cornell University by @totemorg

Saturday’s @blueridgepride was an absolute success. 💜 Thank you to everyone who stopped by our confessional booth, entered the raffle, or just came over to say hello. You made the day!

If you entered the raffle, we’ll be drawing our winners tomorrow, so keep an eye on your preferred contact method. 😘

This week’s sessions are a little lighter than usual. One of our Keepers is spending time helping people get registered to vote. If you’re in the U.S., make sure you’re registered and make a plan to participate in this year’s midterm elections! Every vote counts!

We do have two sessions happening this week, hosted by our amazing new Keepers. Check them out and come spend some time with us. 💜 taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @totemorg

Earlier this week, we introduced you to @allisolea. Now please welcome Anthony, Totem’s second-newest Keeper! 💜

Anthony is curious, adventurous, and has collected more than a few good stories along the way. He’s visited 30 countries, gone cage diving with great white sharks in South Africa, and discovered he was claustrophobic during a submarine excursion in Mexico.

He also won his 8th grade spelling bee, used to speak Pig Latin in middle school, and has somehow had every bike he’s ever owned stolen (yes they were locked).

Anthony is leading one of our newest Spaces, The Roots of Who We Are, which meets weekly on Sundays at 5 PM ET. It’s a Space for reflecting on the experiences, people, and seasons that have shaped us, and who we’re still becoming.

We’re so excited to have him here. Give Anthony a warm welcome in the comments, and come join him for The Roots of Who We Are. taken in Los Angeles, California by @totemorg

Please welcome Allison, one of Totem’s newest Keepers! 💜

Allison is a certified mindfulness teacher and spent a decade as a psychology professor, so she brings a deep curiosity about people, relationships, and the ways we move through the world.

She’s also ridden her bike across the state of Iowa, started learning pole dance at 34 as her first formal dance experience, loves gardening, and says tomato plant leaves are one of her favorite smells. In the summer, you can usually find her paddleboarding, where she recently learned how to do a headstand on the board.

She lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in the Appalachian temperate rainforest, and her formative TV lineup includes Daria, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Strangers with Candy, and Twin Peaks.

Allison is also leading one of our newest Spaces, Relationships Reimagined, which meets weekly and explores the many ways we connect, relate, and build relationships.

We’re so happy to have her here. Give Allison a warm welcome in the comments, and check out Relationships Reimagined if you think you would connect with her or have ever questioned the status quo of relationships. taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @totemorg

We generally try to avoid the live, laugh, love stuff around here, but we thought we’d get a little woo-woo this Wednesday.

Here are some Totem-approved, grounded affirmations for today.

Big news at Totem this month 👀

We’re slowly rolling out our new web app, which means no more Google Meet!

If you’ve been wanting to try Totem but haven’t made it yet, consider this your sign. And if you’ve joined us before but it’s been a while, come back and see what’s new.

Unfortunately, most of this week’s sessions are already full. Y’all are filling these things up faster and faster, so if you see a spot you want, grab it while you can.

Nothing this week work for you? Check out the rest of the month. We’ve got plenty more conversations coming up.

Link in bio to reserve your spot. 💜 taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @totemorg

Asheville friends, we need a few extra hands for @blueridgepride 🌈

We’re looking for volunteers for both Friday night’s 18+ event and Saturday’s Pride festival. You’ll be helping us share Totem with the community, pass out some amazing prizes, run our Pride Confessional ☕️, and have some great conversations along the way.

Volunteers also get a one-of-a-kind Totem shirt and a drink or meal on us.

Want in? DM us for the sign-up link or drop “VOLUNTEER” in the comments, and we’ll send it your way.

And even if you can’t volunteer, please like and share this post to help us get it in front of more Asheville folks. taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @totemorg
