Works by the incredible Ivan Marchuk

A Ukrainian artist listed as one of the Daily Telegraphs top 100 living geniuses

Ivan’s art was never accepted in the Soviet Union due to his style not conforming to the only recognised style of art at the time ‘Socialist Realism’

Ivan’s individualism and upbringing led to him creating his own artistic style ‘Pliontanism’ - named after the Ukrainian word to weave / knit due to his intricate style of painting

He eventually found fame outside of the Soviet Union, before returning to Ukraine once he thought the country was safe from eastern oppressive and overbearing ideals back in 2001 - let’s hope he was not premature…
