In the past 5 years, I can’t even tell you how many motorcycles we’ve towed out of the HRBT expansion project construction zones.

This morning was another one — a late-model Road Glide that cracked its oil pan inside the tunnel and started dumping oil. The customer originally thought the noise from the impact was just his tools bouncing around in the saddlebags.

Luckily, he was able to make it through the tunnel and get safely onto the shoulder just past Settlers Landing, where we loaded the bike and brought it back home to Virginia Beach.

A lot of the riders we help through this corridor aren’t just out for a weekend ride. They’re commuting back and forth across the water every day to the bases, shipyards and other jobs on both sides of Hampton Roads. For many of them, avoiding the HRBT construction simply isn’t an option.

With all the construction, uneven pavement, transitions and debris around the HRBT project, motorcycles simply don’t have the same margin for error that cars and trucks do.

If you’re riding through there, give yourself some room, watch the road surface, and don’t assume something a car can roll over is harmless to a bike.

Ride safe out there.

Pre-COVID Tow N Go.

Back when the orange truck was putting in work and motorcycle towing around Hampton Roads was a much different game.

A lot has changed since this picture at @oceanacycles — the trucks, the equipment, the industry and the scale of the operation.

The mission hasn’t changed: take care of the bikes and take care of the people who ride them.

Yesterday we responded to a disabled motorcycle on I-264 in Virginia Beach.

A big thank you to VDOT for quickly closing the lane behind us to provide a safe work zone while we loaded the bike. That extra layer of protection makes a huge difference for everyone involved.

Safety Reminder: If you’re stranded in an unsafe location on the interstate, don’t stay in harm’s way if you can avoid it. Call #77 to reach the Virginia Safety Service Patrol. They can help provide traffic control, assist with minor roadside issues, or help get the right resources headed your way.

If you need professional motorcycle transportation or recovery anywhere in Hampton Roads, Tow N Go Motorcycle Transportation & Recovery is just a phone call away. 757-407-6631

Please slow down and move over when you see emergency vehicles, tow trucks, or roadside crews working. Everyone deserves to make it home safely. taken in Virginia Beach, Virginia by @towngo757

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

Picked this bike up on Route 58 in Suffolk in the construction zone after the rider got a flat tire while riding. Thankfully he stayed upright and didn’t wreck.

That stretch of 58 has gotten pretty rough lately with all the construction, traffic, and constant backups. A flat tire at highway speeds on a motorcycle can become a dangerous situation fast, especially with traffic moving all around you.

Glad the rider got off the road safely and made the call to transport it instead of trying to keep riding on it.

Please watch for motorcycles, slow down in construction zones, and move over for disabled vehicles and service trucks on the shoulder. Stay safe out there.

Bike night cut short at Redbones — always a solid turnout out there.

Got this rider home safe
Customer suspects Compensator… caught it early and decided to tow it home for inspection.
