***UPDATE - Despite our highest hopes and best intentions, sometimes things don’t go as planned. This is one of those times.

Due to inclement weather conditions and a forecast calling for more rain throughout the day, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel today’s Halloween Boo Bash.

We’re sorry to disappoint everyone who was looking forward to this popular event, but Mother Nature simply isn’t cooperating.

On a positive note, the “Goodies for Goblins” Trick-or-Treating event at participating downtown businesses will proceed as scheduled. To view the list of participating businesses, visit: bit.ly/WFBooBash by @townofwakeforest

Did you know the Town of Wake Forest has a Special Events Policy?

Special events are a key contributor to Wake Forest’s exceptional quality of life. In addition to numerous Town-organized annual events, such as Friday Night on White, Fireworks Spectacular, Good Neighbor Day, and Halloween Boo Bash, Wake Forest residents also enjoy many “Community Events.”

Community Events are Town-permitted special events in a public area (Festival Street/East Owen Avenue, South White Street, etc.) that a business, church, community group, or other organization plans, manages, pays for, and executes after applying for and receiving a Special Event Permit. Examples of “Community Events” include Meet in the Street (Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce), Cars & Carnivores (Wake Forest Rotary Club), and the Lighting of Wake Forest (Wake Forest Downtown, Inc.) – just to name a few.

As part of the Town’s process for permitting Community Events, Wake Forest staff must approve the event location and may require the involvement of Police, Public Works, and/or other Town departments, as necessary.

To view the full Special Events Policy and see a list of approved Special Events, visit https://www.wakeforestnc.gov/special-events-policy.

🎃 2026 Halloween Boo Bash Weather Update! 🎃

We’re monitoring the weather ahead of Saturday’s Halloween Boo Bash in Downtown Wake Forest and (fingers crossed) planning to proceed from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. as scheduled.

Although our staff and many of the activities can operate in mist and light rain, we may be forced to delay or even cancel the event if we experience heavy rain, strong winds, or lightning. As always, safety is our number one priority.

As of right now, here’s our game plan:

• In light rain, our midway games, food vendors, sponsors, DJ, roaming performers, spooky science show, country craft tent, face painter, and costume parade will proceed as scheduled.

• If we’re experiencing more than a mist or sprinkle, our inflatable slides and crawl-through inflatable will not operate until the rain stops.

• Just outside of the Halloween Boo Bash footprint, the “Goodies for Goblins” Trick-or-Treating event at participating downtown businesses will proceed as scheduled. View a list of participating merchants on our event webpage below.

• Stay Tuned! Be sure to follow our social media pages for additional updates tomorrow morning as we continue to monitor conditions and determine the best way to move forward.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow in (hopefully) dry and crisp fall weather!

The Town of Wake Forest will host a Paper Shredding & Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wake Forest Center for Active Aging, 235 E. Holding Ave.

Sponsored by @skyliftgaragedoors, the paper shredding portion of the event will offer residents and businesses the opportunity to protect themselves from identity theft and dispose of confidential documents in an environmentally responsible manner.

A drive-thru system will be implemented to help ensure a smooth drop-off experience. All paper will be shredded on-site, then recycled. Participants are urged to help reduce contamination by removing all non-paper materials in advance, such as plastic binders, plastic folders, and metal tabs.

As part of the November 14 event, residents can more conveniently and properly dispose of items that require specialty recycling. Accepted items include, but are not limited to, laptops, servers, cell phones, mainframes, circuit boards, keyboards, VCRs, electric typewriters, and radios. View a full list of items on our website.

For full event details, guidelines and “know before you go” items visit bit.ly/WFPaperShreddingEvent.
