Flooding in Manasquan📍

On the corner of east Main Street & North Porter shows a few feet of flooding so far with several cars submerged. This is in the region that had a voluntary evacuation notice issued yesterday.

Do you live in a flood zone?

Manasquan officials have issued a voluntary evacuation notice for residents in low-lying, flood-prone areas as a slow-moving nor’easter approaches the Jersey Shore.

The notice primarily covers the borough’s Tier 1 area, including parts of the beachfront and neighborhoods near Glimmer Glass and Watsons Creek.

Officials are especially urging elderly residents, people with special needs and those living in non-elevated homes to consider leaving.

A recent report named 10 of New Jersey’s most hospitable towns, including Spring Lake as number 5!

The list highlights destinations known for welcoming downtowns, community events, locally owned businesses and the kind of small-town atmosphere that makes visitors feel at home.

The other Shore towns made the list: @visitoceangrove and @redbank_nj.

Spring Lake was recognized for its peaceful, arcade-free boardwalk, Divine Park and charming Third Avenue. Nearby Ocean Grove stands out for its historic architecture, quieter beachfront and the Great Auditorium, while Red Bank combines a walkable downtown with restaurants, shops, theaters and views of the Navesink River.

Cape May named the state’s most hospitable town, followed by @downtownhaddonfield, @experienceprinceton and @collingswoodnj.

What are your thoughts?

The tiny studio was listed for $399,000 on Aug. 20 and attracted more than 150 people to two open houses during its first weekend. Within a week, the seller received 12 offers, all above the asking price.

Located on the first beach block, the freestanding cottage includes a full kitchen, bathroom with a bathtub and an outdoor picnic area with an ocean view.

The price also makes it a rarity in Ocean Grove, where the median home sale price was $772,000 as of July.

Despite its size, the property could potentially generate significant seasonal rental income. The listing agent estimates it could rent for around $6,000 per month during July and August, although the property is limited to four rentals per year.

After receiving five offers during the first weekend alone, the seller called for best and final offers. By the deadline, that number had climbed to 12—all for more than $399,000.

@visitoceangrove, @springlakechamber and @shopallentownnj all made the list, which highlighted towns where historic architecture, natural scenery and walkable streets come together.

Ocean Grove ranked No. 2 for its Victorian homes, wraparound porches, boardwalk views and historic landmarks including the Great Auditorium. Spring Lake came in at No. 5, praised for its beaches, lakefront parks, tree-lined streets and lack of heavy commercial development along the ocean. Allentown ranked No. 8 for its compact historic center, brick storefronts, older homes and nearby green space.

Are you going?

The 90-minute experience runs from 7:30 to 9 p.m and is hosted by @sacreddspace. It will include a smoke cleanse, discussion of the full moon, guided breathwork, and a full sound bath on the beach.

Attendees will also receive a mini crystal charged during the session and, weather permitting, will have the opportunity to close out the evening with a dip in the ocean.

Tickets are $55, and attendees are encouraged to bring a mat or blanket and layers for warmth. The exact Spring Lake Beach location will be shared with registered guests ahead of the event.
