POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today was a dream come true for both of us.

Before I became a mom, I knew almost nothing about Star Wars. Parenthood has introduced me to worlds I never imagined I'd fall in love with.

Building this lightsaber wasn't a quick craft. Soldering 70 individual LED lights together was a long and tedious process. There were definitely moments when we were screaming on the inside. But the instant the lightsaber finally lit up, the smile on Leo's face made every moment worth it.

I hope I'll look back on this day with gratitude for how Leo invited me into his world. More than anything, through Peekabook, I hope he'll understand that I'll always be willing to step into his passions, learn about the things he loves, and see the universe through his eyes.

A huge thank you to my sister @yw_chien for jumping in to help us through the build—you definitely saved the day.

And thank you to @makefunedu for creating such an incredible workshop. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, and the experience was unforgettable. by @toysformyson

Today's story was 《妖怪偵探世界旅行》, an interactive book where children search for monsters from around the world using a UV flashlight. Of course, reading the story was only the beginning.

After reading the book, Leo and I created our own Monster Hunt game. Using invisible UV ink, we secretly drew monsters all over the bathroom—on the walls, around the sink, and yes... even a poop monster on the stinky toilet lid.

Leo is no longer just playing the game—he's becoming the game designer. Instead of simply following the adventure, he's now creating one, inviting his dad to become the monster detective.

It's funny how children don't separate learning from play. A bathroom becomes a playground. A flashlight becomes a detective's tool.

That's the magic I hope Peekabook can bring to every family.

Because the best stories don't end when you close the book—they continue through imagination, laughter, and play.

Read.
Play.
Imagine.

It's been a while since our last post.
A lot has changed. Leo is now five and a half years old, and I've had the privilege of watching not only my own child grow, but lots of children grow through play and learning.

Recently, I decided to take a leap and start something that has been living in my heart for a long time: Peekabook.

Peekabook is built on a simple belief: children learn best when they are having fun. Through reading and play, we can spark curiosity, build confidence, and create meaningful learning experiences that children will remember long after the lesson is over.

As a teacher, I can't fully explain the feeling of watching a child finally read a word on their own, understand a new idea, or proudly share something they have learned. Those small moments may seem ordinary, but they are meaningful. They remind me why I chose this path in the first place.

With Peekabook, I hope to combine my love for children's literature, education, and game-based learning. I want to transform books into adventures, stories into conversations, and learning into something children genuinely look forward to.

This is just the beginning, and I couldn't be more excited for the journey ahead.

芋圓 with the family today , rolling, squishing, and shaping the taro “clay” into all kinds of little creations. Leo crafted an abstract “hot dog,” while Benoit made a baguette and croissant. And here it is — the full collection of our masterpieces that we happily devoured. by @toysformyson

Before I became a mom, river tracing was my favorite thing to do—riding the river with friends, feeling free, wild, and alive.
Now I get to share it with this little one.
Same river. Same thrill. Just a thousand times more joy. 💙

Our living room has officially transformed into a full-blown superhero universe, and Benoit and I have been webbed, clawed, and Hulk Smashed more times than I’d like to admit. Because apparently, knowing every single detail about the Avengers and X-Men is an essential life skill. 🦸‍♂️💥 by @toysformyson

Celebrating the first day of the year with some monster drawings. It’s incredible to see how practice and persistence have truly paid off.

Here’s to honoring creativity, resilience, and the joy of making something new—every day. Cheers to another year filled with inspiration, learning, and countless moments of artistic discovery. Happy New Year! by @toysformyson

Officially reached peak parenting! Celebrating Leo’s first comic book about police poop 🚔💩✨ while the typhoon hits Taiwan. Inspired by the "How to draw a poop" page from the amazing Cat Kid Comic Club by Dav Pilkey! Who knew that a storm could lead to such a smelly art?

Since I can remember, Leo's dream has been to become a cop superhero fighting evil, and Dav Pilkey's book has been a huge part of this journey, tugging at his heartstrings. I had my doubts about some of the language in the story, but nothing could prepare me for that heart-wrenching moment when Leo and I held each other, tears streaming down our faces, when Lil Petey went missing. After reading, he jumped right into his own creative projects! 🎨🚀 Watching him channel his feelings and imagination into art makes me feel so proud. Thank you, Dav Pilkey! <3
