I always dreamt of being captured this way since I was a little girl, to be captured raw and in the embrace of the earth like a fairy or a bird or a woodland creature or a tree itself reaching up to the sun or even just a woman who feels safe to just be.

The Purple Church and the Big Tree

This is the slippery elm at Hopemont. This piece will be up at @lasclex for their Art by Nature:Rooted in Time show

This Painting served as an exercise of consistency, of discipline and focus. I had so much fun finding patterns to follow within the bark and vines covering the ground- after studying and exploring for so long I can see the patterns lighting up for me on the canvas.
As I got to the church I was excited and challenged- I don’t often paint man made structures but I have had a recent interest, especially in churches. I felt excited and the structure came naturally to me- I chose purple to add a light playfulness and royal feeling.
As I finished I felt deeply satisfied and amazed!!

Premonition Cross

This painting first came to me in a dream- It was a glowing green cross, light emanating from the cross itself- I felt so touched and hopeful from the symbol but not quite sure what exactly it meant.
When I woke up I sketched it out with large chunky paintsticks, remembering that the cross was at a slant and the darkest green laid on the furthest points- I knew then I’d eventually paint it.
~Several months later traveling to Chile to visit my family, we visited the cemetery and my family’s plot- the entire place was gorgeous, lots of standing structures honoring burial sites, stained glass, flowers and succulents, colorful birds flying through the trees- There I saw the painting once again, but in the moment I did not realize the resemblance to the dream - I took a photo, planning to use it as a reference for a painting.
Later when I was home again, in a shocking moment I realized the resemblance to the dream- not only was it a symbol of hope but a premonition. After writing,reflecting and praying I realized it’s not only this moment at the cemetery known by God, but every and any moment possible is known by God. First receiving the dream I had no idea I would even be going to Chile- this premonition taught me that what is unknown, what is a surprise to me- God already knows, He’s already shaped it perfectly, I am already protected, the path or the unlimited amount of possible paths- are already laid out by His hands for me- It’s not for me to know what is the “right” choice but only to trust and rely on God and His will. by @tozzcha

Portal

I had been working on this piece on and off for the past 2 or 3 years- starting this huge piece around the time I had first started picking up oil paint as a medium and finishing it for my Temple Show 🪽💕
The trees on either side are the trees that sit framing the sky from my mothers back yard- a special place where I pray, do morning yoga, have breakfast, cry, dance, have bonfires - a Temple Space by @tozzcha
