The Toronto Police Service is accepting applications for the 2027 Special Constable hiring process!

As a Special Constable, you’ll play an important role in supporting public safety across Toronto. Depending on your assignment, duties may include prisoner transportation and management, court security, booking and processing persons in custody, report writing, evidence collection, missing person searches, crime scene security, and enforcing select City of Toronto parking by-laws.

This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations. You’ll also receive specialized training as part of the 15-week Special Constable Training Program at the Toronto Police College.

Minimum requirements include:
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Minimum one year of related experience
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence
• Valid OACP Certificate
• Intermediate First Aid certification
• Successful completion of the PREP

Interested in becoming a Special Constable with the Toronto Police Service?

The fitness requirement for the position has been updated! Applicants will now be required to successfully complete the full PREP (Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police) as part of the application process.

Applicants must achieve:

💪 Pursuit Restraint Circuit: 3:00 minutes or under
🏃‍♀️ Shuttle Run: Stage 6

Previously, the fitness requirement was only Shuttle Run to Stage 6. The updated requirement better reflects the physical demands and job functions expected of Special Constables.
