Shout out to my sister Asha on being proclaimed by the city on June 2, 2026, during Pride at New York City Hall.Asha, God has a way of realigning paths and bringing people back together in divine timing. I am so grateful for your mentorship, friendship, and sisterhood. Thank you for every piece of advice you’ve shared with me and for always pushing me to be greater than I already am. Our phone calls are always filled with love, laughter, wisdom, and empowerment, and I cherish every one of them.I am so happy and honored to call you my sister. My prayer is that we continue to grow together for many years to come. This recognition was, in my opinion, long overdue. You have been doing this work for over 20 years. I remember when you were showing up, advocating, supporting, and uplifting community long before it became popular or widely celebrated. You never did this work for applause, accolades, or recognition. You did it because you genuinely cared about people and wanted to see our community thrive.Many people may never fully understand how much you have truly trailblazed because you have always moved with humility and purpose. Your impact has touched countless lives, and this proclamation is a reflection of the seeds you have planted over the years.Thank you for allowing me to be there to witness you in all of your glory. Watching you receive such a well-deserved honor was a moment I will never forget.It was also so special to attend the first ball at City Hall and witness ballroom turn City Hall OUTTTT! To see our culture celebrated in that space was powerful. It filled my heart to be surrounded by so much love and community. Stinky Pop 🖤I just wanted to remind you how deeply loved and appreciated you are, especially by me. You’ve truly become somebody so special to my heart and I honestly don’t know what I would do without you sometimes. I love the way you care for me, the way you calm me down, make me laugh, listen to me, and just love me so genuinely. I want to start this post by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has believed in me throughout the years.To the Kiki Ballroom Scene thank you for grooming me, teaching me patience, understanding, leadership, and most importantly how to lead with compassion. You raised me from a 15-year-old girl into the woman I am today. From the first Femme Queen to walk Bizarre to the first Bangy Overall Mother thank you for pushing me into my purpose.I stepped into Ballroom in 2008, but I had been watching since 2005. That night at Jasmine Couture’s Collections Ball, my eyes lit up at the creativity and brilliance of our culture. From there, I found chosen family people who protected me, loved me, and taught me how to survive.To my mother Courtney your words, your lessons, your strength live in me forever. I love you endlessly.To ICON, to Khan, and to my forever home Miyake Mugler — thank you for shaping me. Mugler, you gave me purpose, family, and a place where I finally felt like I belonged. 5 Valentines Days Later,The way I feel when I am in your presence is inexplainable. We are best friends, each others biggest supporters, you can tell when something is wrong just by looking at me! I can’t imagine what life would be like these past few years without you in mines. The thought of you just does something to my soul and I begin to smile from the inside.You’re so special to me! Never let anyone downplay the person you’ve bust your ass to become! People often compare you to the person you used to be and it’s ok to tell them not to because you’re not that person anymore. You’ve grown into something more satisfying for your spirit and you may not be exactly where you want to be but you are on your way and very happy that you are no longer the person you were.Growth takes time!It took me a while to be able to love the person I see in the mirror everyday but I had to realize that nobody got me like I got me. People will disappoint you, ridicule you, talk down about you, and even make you out to be things you are not but those are not your problems because your problem is you! Take the time to love on your self amongst everything that is being thrown you way and you will notice who is truly for and the about the betterment of you!I went from hanging out all the time doing things I had no business doing to me literally barely hanging out! I’m happy because I am at peace and it’s somewhere I’d never think I’d be especially within myself!I had to learn to love myself and remove myself from the toxic situations and bodies I stationed myself around because I was “COMFORTABLE”! Step outside of your comfort zone and find out who you truly are. Stop waiting for people to do right by you, THEY WONT! They will apologize and do the same shit over, and over, and over again!
