We’re excited to announce our next album, MIRAGE which completes a trilogy of releases exploring the many moods of psychedelic instrumental rock beginning with FREAKOUT and continuing with our most recent 45, MANTRA.
The album is comprised of 13 tracks and brandished with vibrant art by @dawn_aquarius
The first single and video, PURPLE PANTHER, is coming later this week for your viewing pleasure.
The album will be available on cd, lp and digital starting June 12th just in time to become the soundtrack to your psychedelic summer. . Pre-orders will start before that.
We can’t wait to share more with you and play these songs when we hit the road this summer.

I was warming up the racks to finish up some TV cues when I was struck by how solitary it can be here. I do a lot of work alone but it’s also nice to work on other peoples’ music. If you want to hear music I’ve produced with or for other people, I put together a Spotify playlist of some of my favorite examples from over the years. Check it out! (Link in bio)

I hope everyone is having a sweeeet Holiday. I wanted to take the opportunity to share some pics of my new studio in Portland, Or. This is has been my vibe machine in the days of lockdown and I’ve been slowly finalizing it since January. I didn’t want to ruin the full effect by sharing any work in progress shots...
I used my vintage acoustical tiles on the ceiling (not too visible) and new panels from @gikacoustics which I’m liking a lot.
This is where I mixed the most recent Trabants ep due out June 1st. I can’t wait to share some new tunes with you later this week! I also can’t wait to record someone other than myself here. by @trabants

" [Mirage has] surf rock, garage psych, lounge exotica, soul, jazz and vintage instrumental pop all pass through its fourteen tracks, sometimes politely, sometimes like a jukebox with unusually good taste and no supervision... Trabants aren’t trying to prove psychedelia is still relevant. They’re having too much fun bending it into new shapes. ‘Mirage’ is colorful, playful, strange and now and then beautiful, with enough personality to make nostalgia beside the point."

Trabants’ Full-Spectrum Twang on “Mirage”
Straight outta Portland, Trabants are making a mark with the full spectrum of ’60s twang. Here, Eric Penna’s Fender ’60s Player Stratocaster (with Kloppman ’62 pickups) is plugged into a ’66 Vox AC30 for a run through the title track of their new album, “Mirage.” Dave Berkham is playing a Dégas P Bass while Luke Strahota mans a ’60s Rogers kit. We’re playing a couple shows in Southern California this weekend including this year’s OC spaghetti western festival on Saturday.

On Sunday, we’ll be playing the Huntington Beach Pier for a FREE day time show.

Pow Magazine reviews new @trabants album Mirage, writing:

"Trabants [play] surf-style music like Dick Dale, western-style music, bossa nova, Motown soul etc...The instrumentals are stimulating... The intro is fantastic... 'Hot Brew' hits... an ecstatic explosion hits your mind. The guitar licks are fully charged and feature a catchy groovy refrain. It immediately reminded me of the Stooges and MC5, specifically Kick out the Jams, that spellbinding crash of pure rock euphoria, a rush of adrenaline similar to running a hundred-meter dash. The third track brings us back in time to the glory days of the 1960s, with the surf-style beat that brings to mind visions of vast beaches, gorgeous turquoise skies, pina coladas, and hopeful dreams. It reintroduces the ideals from the 60s of no wars, free love, and embracing open empathy and selflessness, all ideals that were eventually abandoned."
