“LET ’EM SLEEP.”
Sarah Jakes Roberts said it, and I have learned to live it.
Let them sleep on your vision. Let them underestimate your reach. Let them question your ability. Let them overlook your name. Let them leave you off the invitation list. Let them give the opportunity to somebody else.
LET. THEM. SLEEP.
Because one thing I have learned is that validation is not a prerequisite for elevation.
And as Kash Doll reminds us through her Kash Kommandments, there comes a point when you have to move differently. Protect your energy. Know your worth. Stop explaining yourself. Handle your business. Keep your standards high. And most importantly, never shrink yourself to make other people comfortable.
I stopped waiting for people to see what I already knew God placed inside of me.
I stopped asking for seats at tables where my value had to be explained.
I stopped believing that being overlooked meant I was unqualified.
Sometimes being overlooked is simply your permission to build your own table, create your own lane, and take up space somewhere bigger.
Now, I am preparing to take the stage in Dubai as a keynote speaker for the NEXT Women Power Leadership Congress.
Houston to Dubai.
That sentence alone reminds me why you cannot allow someone else’s inability to recognize your capacity to become the ceiling for your life.
Some doors closed.
Some invitations never came.
Some people watched without supporting.
Some underestimated me.
And some are still sleeping.
That’s okay.
Because while they were sleeping, I was building. While they were questioning, I was working. While they were overlooking, I was preparing. While they were talking, I was becoming.
So here’s my own addition to the commandments:
Know your worth. Protect your peace. Handle your business. Never beg for a seat. Create the opportunity. Walk in your purpose. And when they sleep on you…LET ’EM SLEEP.
The alarm clock is not your responsibility.
Dubai, I’ll see you in November.

Honored to be named a Houston Business Journal 2026 Women Who Mean Business Awards honoree. ✨
But this moment represents more than an award.
It represents every room I wasn’t invited into. Every table where a seat wasn’t offered. Every opportunity I was qualified for but overlooked. Every time I was expected to wait my turn.
I stopped waiting.
When they don’t invite you, don’t go.
When they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring your own chair.
Better yet, BUILD YOUR OWN TABLE.
When they close the door, stop knocking and build another entrance.
When they overlook you, keep producing.
When they underestimate you, let them.
When they refuse to create space for you, CREATE YOUR OWN SPACE.
I learned that I don’t need permission to lead. I don’t need an invitation to make an impact. And I certainly don’t need someone else’s validation to know the value of the work I bring to the table.
Sometimes rejection is redirection. Sometimes being excluded is the push you need to build something bigger. And sometimes the room you were fighting to enter was simply too small for where you were headed.
So I kept working. I kept serving. I kept building. I kept showing up.
And the work spoke for itself.
I am deeply grateful to be recognized by Houston Business Journal as a 2026 Women Who Mean Business Awards honoree and proud of the impact I continue to make throughout Houston.
This is a reminder:
Stop waiting to be chosen.
CHOOSE YOURSELF.
Build the table. Create the opportunity. Open the door. And once you get there, make room for somebody coming behind you.
Because sometimes you weren’t denied a seat.
You were being challenged to build the whole damn room.

🎉 The countdown is on, and the excitement is rolling through the Alief–Gulfton Corridor!

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible partner, **Motivo**, for helping us spread the word in a big way! 🚛📺

Their LED truck will be traveling throughout the **Alief–Gulfton Corridor** today, Thursday, and Friday, building excitement for our **19th Annual Back-to-School Drive**.

Then, on **Saturday morning**, the LED truck will be stationed at the entrance of **PlazAmericas**, welcoming families and guests as they arrive for this incredible community event.

We are grateful for partners like Motivo who continue to invest in our community and help ensure families know about the resources available to prepare students for a successful school year.

Every random emergency... Every “Can I ask you one quick question?” Every fire that somehow becomes my fire... Every “Since you’re so good at this...”

Somehow... it all finds me.
At this point, I don’t even ask why anymore. I just grab my coffee and get to work. ☕🤣
