Ancestral Fibres: India Edition | The Soul of Kutch.
Before industrial looms and genetically modified seeds, there was Kala Cotton. An “Old World” species (Gossypium herbaceum) that has thrived in the salt-crusted earth of Kutch for over 5,000 years.
Purely rain-fed, naturally organic, and fiercely resilient—this fiber doesn’t just survive the desert; it belongs to it. In this edition, we honor the Vankar weavers who have kept this lineage alive, turning “raw” into “refined” one hand-spun thread at a time.

Antes de los telares industriales y las semillas modificadas genéticamente, existía el Algodón Kala. Una especie del "Vi“jo Mundo" (”ossypium herbaceum) que ha prosperado en la tierra salina de Kutch durante más de 5,000 años.
Alimentado puramente por el agua de lluvia, naturalmente orgánico y ferozmente resistente; esta fibra no solo sobrevive al desierto, sino que pertenece a él. En esta edición, honramos a los tejedores Vankar, quienes han mantenido vivo este linaje, transformando lo "crudo"en “refinado” hilo a hilo, hilado a mano. by @tracesoftheworld
