No one tells you that when you start HRT, you can feel worse before you feel better.

I didn’t know that. So I quit. Turns out, quitting wasn’t the answer either, it just meant starting over from scratch, and a lot of trial and error to get back on track.

Testosterone cream — my levels never budged. Pellets, I loved it, but my T hit the 400s. As a nurse, that concerned me: too high for too long risks receptor oversaturation.

What finally worked: an estradiol patch, oral progesterone, and injectable testosterone.

This is part 3, the part where trial and error taught me more than getting it right the first time ever could have.

Not your provider, not medical advice, just my experience.

Comment TRIED and I’ll walk you through how I got here.

YOUR BODY. YOUR HORMONES. YOUR PLAN.

I’ve been on my own hormone health journey for 7 years. At 64, I know exactly how personal this chapter is.

Huge update many of us were waiting for: the bioidentical hormone therapy program I trust just expanded eligibility to women 60 and up , determined by a licensed medical provider based on clinical appropriateness. Not all will qualify.

Tailored to your symptoms, your goals, your next chapter.

Curious if you’d qualify? Comment PLAN and I’ll connect you with my provider.

I am a nurse, not your provider. Educational purposes only.

If you have a family history like mine and you are navigating this same fear, comment SAFE and I will send you what I found.

When my functional medicine doctor first brought up hormone therapy, I said no. Not because I didn’t trust him, because of what I’d seen.

My mom. And three of my sisters. Breast cancer runs deep in my family. So before I said yes to anything, I needed to understand the research myself. That’s where this story starts.

I said no before I said yes.

So I did what oncology nursing trained me to do: I dug into the research myself. Not headlines. Not fear. The actual data on hormone replacement therapy, breast cancer risk, and family history.

This is part 1 of my 7-year HRT journey — starting with the no.

I am a nurse but not your provider and this isn’t medical advice — just my story and what the research actually showed me.

This is a big deal, and I’m proud to watch it happen.

The peptide space has grown so fast over the last few years, and not every company out there has held itself to the same standard. That gap is exactly why I chose to partner with EllieMD.

This week, our founder is speaking at the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee hearing in Washington D.C., the meeting that will help decide which peptide therapies stay available through licensed, regulated pharmacies.

For 30 years as an oncology nurse, I watched what happens when standards slip. So when I talk about peptides and hormone therapy with my followers, there’s one rule I don’t bend on: know your source.

Not every product is created equal. Not every “clinic” has a physician actually reviewing your labs.

This is why it matters.

I can’t be in Washington DC for the meeting but I am with them in spirit 😜 taken in Exumas, Bahamas by @traceyland.2

A GLP-1 can help reduce appetite, but it can’t replace good nutrition.

If you’re eating less, protein becomes even more important to help preserve muscle, support healthy aging, and keep you feeling strong.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is focusing only on weight loss instead of body composition.

Prioritize protein. Lift some weights. Your future self will thank you.

Comment PROTEIN if you’d like my high-protein food list and snack guide.

Got my daughter home Monday with her husband and kids, and she’s doing better. ❤️

Now it’s my turn to head “home”…back to the Bahamas. 🛥️

Currently sitting at the airport waiting for the restaurant to open at 8 because apparently my first priority is a Diet Coke. 🥤

And then… I’m going back to see Papa Smurf. 😂

Tomorrow we finally head HOME. ❤️

After two hospital stays and a week that definitely didn’t go quite as planned, her pain is finally better controlled and we are back at our Airbnb.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about traveling tomorrow, but I’m so ready to get this girl home to Florida where she can truly rest and recover. 🙏

Thank you again for every prayer, message, and check-in. We have felt so loved through all of this. ❤️

One more travel day… then HOME. 🙏 taken in New Jersey by @traceyland.2

Update: Praise the Lord… Amanda’s pain is finally much more controlled. ❤️

I ran home for a quick shower, a change of clothes… and a much-needed little pick-me-up. IYKYK😜

And yes… the second picture is exactly how I feel. Caring for someone you love is exhausting, but seeing her finally getting some relief makes every minute worth it.

One request for the hospital though… can we please get Coke products? 😂 I just can’t do Pepsi, and I am definitely missing my Diet Coke.

The plan is for her to stay one more night so they can continue transitioning her from IV pain medication to oral medication. If everything continues to go well, we’re praying she’ll be able to go home tomorrow.

Thank you all so much for the prayers, kind messages, and encouragement. They have meant more than you know. Please keep praying for a good night, good pain control, and a smooth trip home tomorrow. ❤️

Well… this wasn’t in the plans.

We had to bring Amanda back to the emergency room this morning because her pain just isn’t letting up. They’re doing a CT scan to see if they can figure out what’s causing it.

We’re trusting God through this and would appreciate your prayers for answers, comfort, and that she’ll finally get some relief. ❤️🙏 taken in New Jersey by @traceyland.2

We’re finally home from the hospital!! Woohoo!

It involved a very bumpy uber ride and lots of stairs to climb but we made it😜

She’s still having some pain, but she is so happy to be out of the hospital and recovering in a more comfortable place.

Thank you all so much for the prayers, kind messages, and support. They’ve meant more than you know.

Now it’s time for her to rest, heal, and take it easy for a few days before we head back to Florida. taken in New Jersey by @traceyland.2

Watching your child recover after surgery is hard, no matter how old they are. 💗 She’s resting now, still has pain, but she’s been up walking and continues to make progress. We’re hopeful we’ll be packing up and heading home later today. Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. Amanda Riveron taken in New Jersey by @traceyland.2

I wasn’t permitted to take her picture (understandably), but she’s doing okay. She’s in a lot of pain, but we’re thankful she’s on the road to recovery. The nurses have been wonderful, and the surgical team was incredible.

Three surgeons worked together, including Dr. Lui, the endometriosis specialist. She said her endometriosis was extensive, affecting nearly every surface, including her diaphragm.

Endometriosis is so much more than “bad periods,” and today was a reminder of just how serious this disease can be. Amanda Riveron
