It’s official…. Abel graduated this past Thursday which means our family’s time with school aged kids is over.

This weekend, my son married the love of his life, Lucy… and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him happier. I’ve always thought he hung the moon—but the best part is, she thinks so too. The way she loves him is something truly special, and celebrating the two of them was the easiest “yes” there’s ever been. 🤍
What we thought this weekend would look like… wasn’t even close to what it became.
We planned for months to have their wedding in my dear friend Jess’s backyard, but as the week went on, the forecast just kept getting worse. By Thursday night—with only 36 hours to go—we were all sitting together trying to figure out what in the world to do.
And then… provision.
My friend Rachel, who owns Riverview (where my daughter got married), so generously said, “It’s open Saturday… please use it.” We went to bed that night not knowing where the wedding would be, and woke up stepping into something completely different.
By Friday morning, Aidan (Poly) and Lucy stood at Riverview, took a deep breath, let go of what they thought it would be, and said yes to something new. From there—it was all hands on deck. Calls made, texts sent, diagrams drawn, vendors pulled together in a matter of hours … and somehow, it all came together.
We still gathered at Jess’s house for the sweetest rehearsal and shared the most meaningful dinner at Adopo, full of stories and love poured out over these two.
And then, the wedding day… Rain in the early morning. Rain during setup. And then, just before 5:00… the sun came out and the chairs were set up.
They were married outside. We took photos outside. And as soon as we moved in for dinner—the rain came back, softly falling on and off through the rest of the evening as we ate and danced.
All week, I wrestled with wanting the weather to change. But in the middle of all the unknowns, God provided in ways we couldn’t have planned—and used the generosity of incredible people to carry us through.
I will never forget this weekend. It was a dream come true… even if it looked nothing like Plan A. 🤍

When I asked him what his dream location was for senior pictures, he said… “I guess the backyard.” 😂
And honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

This kid—he pushes through a lot of hard and just keeps going. I’m so incredibly proud of the young man he’s becoming. Watching him grow into someone strong, steady, and determined has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

He’s graduating in May and heading into the electrician trade, and I have no doubt he’s going to do amazing things.

Also- how on earth are Aidan and Lucy getting married in a month from tomorrow?! And how is it just 2 months til graduation for Abel? And how excited am I that I get to see Avery two times in the next two months?

The month of December and the beginning of January have been packed…
Ted and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on Jan 6….
We are planning a trip for the Fall but celebrated at our fav Mexican restaurant and then started making boxes for my studio ❤️

In December Ted and I traveled to Grand Rapids for his work party and we took zero pictures- well - just the one of us dressed up in the mirror. We had a blast and I always love this time away w him ❤️

I then left from Grand Rapids headed to Chicago to be Avery’s guest at her Christmas party! So fun being in the city at Christmas.
It was magical. She had to work while I was there and I actually navigated public transportation on my own! Best part was being w her. I also enjoyed a dinner night out w her and her boyfriend- dumplings in China town. Yum!

We got to spend time with Lucy a few weekends before Christmas. Lucy is Aidan’s fiancé and they will be married on April 25.

All the fam was home for and it was so sweet 🥹 ❤️
🚨‼️🔔- Andrea (my dear sweet sister friend) had her baby on December 30 and I was so honored to be able to take pics in the hospital and I’ve loved going over there and getting all the baby snuggles.

My two favorite parties of year happened in December - the Cudzilo’s Christmas and the Cole’s new year party‼️

I give December a 10/10 even though I had a tooth pulled and can’t get the new one for 3 months.

There is a season for all things… this past week was one w great sorrow and great joy.
We drove to Texas for Teds sisters funeral (Gwen) and we got to see his dad and visit w him for a bit. He wasn’t able make the trip to Texas for the funeral (due to his health) but it was good (and hard) to see him.
We also got to spend time with my best friend, Melissa and her kiddos and then had dinner w my high school forever friends.

Yesterday was probably my favorite Thanksgiving of all time and I’m beyond grateful to have all my people in one place even if it’s just for 12 hours!!!!

This weekend was truly so special. 2020 brought me a new (young) friend named Emily… she lived in our neighborhood and we spent many nights on her deck ….
Our covid crew was a special place to feel “normal”….
Well- all of us “seasoned mommas” would hang on her every word after she started dating this guy named Blair. From being gah gah over the flowers he sent to hearing of their proposal through our group text- we were along for the ride…
Well that ride took us to Cashiers, NC this weekend for the most epic of weddings.
A few days away w friends -
A marriage to celebrate and fun times to be had!!!
