All prepared for @86challenge round 9 at Thunderhill West where I’m shooting for a mid/low 1:22

These @ansix_auto mirrors are a great low cost alternative to the carbon fiber options from other companies. The base is 3d printed and the mirror housing a glossy black plastic. I gave the whole thing a coat of gloss clear coat, we’ll see how it lasts.

The mirrors are blue tinted wide angle, pretty much eliminates the blind spot.

But! Even better these comes with a little plug-in light for the blind spot sensors so you can retain functionality without getting error messages. I love it.

The billet steering rack limiters are aluminum and fit the steering rack well. The turning radius is hilarious now but that’s the sacrifice I make to run 10” wheels.

The Verus limiters I had previously worked but had some issues with them deforming over time, so decided to replace with the Ansix units. by @trackday_gr86

Buttonwillow Rd 8 Recap:

Running the 1A CCW configuration was fun but frustrating! It was great to catch up with the @socal86cup guys and get back on track after a three month break. What wasn’t so great was my A052s seemed to completely fall off the pace this event. In session 1 I managed a 2:10.6 in traffic (full video up on my YouTube), but was still 1s off my optimal. I figured second session would be a 2:08 or 2:09 no problem, but try as I might I could not extract any more pace from the car.

In the second session I went flying off at bus stop on my first hot lap (next slide), and from there on out could barely get into the 2:10s. Comparing data with Dennis on fresh AD09, my cornering speeds were no better in either high or low speed, so I am inclined to place all the blame for my lack of pace on the heat cycled tires (don’t we love a good racing excuse?)

Luckily I have some fresh tires to put on before the next event at Thunderhill West. That hopefully will serve to rebuild my confidence a bit.

@86challenge summer break is winding down and we are just 1 week away from our next event, Round 8 at Buttonwillow 1CCWA!

While I’ve already secured the Touring class championship for this year, I added a few 0 point mods and took care of some needed maintenance over the summer.

Verus diffuser and OEM+ designs exhaust cover installed

Not my best driving today but good enough for P1/new PB/new Touring class record. Have been chasing sub-2 here for three years and thought this would be the day but was not to be. Had my first two hot lap attempts blocked by traffic, then this sloppy lap, then was mistakenly black flagged, and then session over. By session 2, it was too hot to improve at all. Barely went faster than my V730 time. Anyway, on to the next event. taken in Thunderhill Raceway by @trackday_gr86

PB/P1/Touring class record of 1:47.614 at Sonoma today. Didn’t think this time was possible today but the A052s delivered.

Music to complement how it felt to try and tame such a beast.

Thanks @agi_racing for letting me have a go in the Echo challenge. What a blast. 2:27.35 was good enough for mid pack on the leaderboard. My driver excuses: 1) missed 2nd out of off-ramp (skill issue), and 2) apparently the set of tires it had one weren’t as grippy as a previous set.

Actually dying to have another go and set a better lap. I was far more into this than my regular 86Challenge competitions lol. taken in Buttonwillow Raceway Park by @trackday_gr86

Another successful @86challenge event, this time at Buttonwillow Circuit for round 5 of the championship. I secured P1 and lower my existing Touring class record with a 1:57.409. The @yokohamatire A052s provided magical grip on their first push lap, then delivered steady performance about 1s/lap slower afterwards.

Less than one week out from @86challenge Rd 5 at Buttonwillow Circuit! Excited to drive this track for the second time. With freshly mounted A052s from @tireagentmotorsports, I’ll be aiming to beat my current PB and class record of 1:59.5. by @trackday_gr86

West Reverse! Here is my fastest lap from @86challenge Rd 4, a 1:23.790 that was good enough for P1 and another Touring class record. Featuring a quite drastic (but two wheels on!) T3 line. Day 1 of the @86challenge double header at Thunderhill West started strong, with P1, a new PB, and new Touring class record of 1:23.092. Had a chance at a mid/high 1:22 in this session but I couldn’t quite execute. Next time!
