This album takes me right back to High School, can't believe it's been 25 years! Seeing Jimmy Eat World in Red Rocks was incredible, and I wish my brother was alive for this, I'm still in his passenger seat when I hear these songs 🩸🇺🇲 taken in Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre by @trackthetrips

Crack in the Island, have fun squeezing through! This is a short hike towards the center of Mackinac Island, recommend a mountain bike to get up to the trail... not a beach cruiser like I had!

It was a happy accident that the Telluride Balloon Festival was happening during my Colorado road trip stop.

The town is famous for it's free scenic gondola to Mountain Village, which ended being a perfect seat to watch the Main Street Balloon glow. The mountain views were beautiful and a great place to watch a sunset. taken in Telluride, Colorado by @trackthetrips

I often travel or hike alone, but it's rare to have a trail all to myself. While I enjoy the peacefulness of it, this was one of the first times I felt a little worried because I hadn't seen anyone near here and it was about 9 miles to town (and no cell service). It does make me a bit uneasy in case of an emergency, so sometimes crowded trails do have perks.

Crested Butte was another beautiful stop on my Colorado road trip. I did a few short hikes, but definitely want to come back to do more of the longer trails, as this is world famous as the wildflower capital of the state.

I also learned this town connects with Maroon Bells Peaks through the Maroon Pass, which I am definitely adding to my hiking list as Maroon Bells was my favorite sight on the trip! taken in Crested Butte, Colorado by @trackthetrips

The Painted Wall in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is the tallest cliff in the park, and state of Colorado! The stripes formed from magma squeezing through cracks in the rock. It reminds of Kintsugi, broken pottery that is rejoined with gold.

Overall, this park has many amazing overlooks along the canyon that are easily accessible by car on South Rim Drive. The park is also designated an International Dark Sky area and is open 24 hours to stargaze (I'm bummed I didn't get to see it at night!). taken in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park by @trackthetrips

Black Canyon of the Gunnison is almost 2800 ft deep, so deep that some parts only get a half hour of sunlight a day, which is why the rock looks black.

There are 7 routes to climb down, which is the easy part, it's coming back up that will take much longer. In the summer you can drive down East Portal Rd to the river, but at a 16% grade, it is one the steepest roads in Colorado. taken in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park by @trackthetrips

Colorado National Monument is the closest I've been to Utah, and the less traveled drive through Rim Rock Rd was worth it! I saw Bighorn sheep and a lot of unique red rock formations.

Be prepared for summer heat and a national park ticket is needed to enter. taken in Colorado National Monument by @trackthetrips

Rim Rock Drive through Colorado National Monument is 23 miles of red rock canyons and steep cliff roads. A national park ticket is needed to enter, and there are two entrances near Grand Junction. It is a high desert, so go earlier in the day to beat the heat. taken in Colorado National Monument by @trackthetrips

Rocky Mountain high is when you drive all the way to the top of the park and look down on the surrounding mountains! Also part of the experience is having much less oxygen at over 12k ft!

Elk watching along Trail Ridge Rd in Rocky Mountain National Park did not disappoint! I went for a sunset drive, which is when they are more active, just be careful as they frequently cross the road. taken in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado by @trackthetrips
