DETAILS:
Everyone has a story to tell, and Dr. James Birren’s Guided Autobiography (GAB) program uses structured prompts to help “pull the past right out of us.” This presentation introduces Birren’s prompts to help participants recall and write about pivotal life experiences involving family, work, health, money, and aspirations. The process encourages self-discovery, deeper understanding of one’s life journey, and the creation of a legacy to share with future generations. Aligned with principles found in Erik Erikson’s developmental theory, these techniques can be used both personally and with clients. The session will conclude with a brief reflective writing exercise and an introduction to opportunities for publishing personal “mini-memoirs” in literary journals.

Tracy Dubin is an award-winning researcher, published writer, ethicist, and international lecturer whose work spans psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience. Based in Los Angeles and a longtime LACPA member, she is the founder of T. Dubin Clinical & Corporate Consulting. She has earned postgraduate certifications from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she conducted brain stimulation research and served as both a Research Ethics Fellow and an Interprofessional Education Fellow. She holds an M.A. in English from the University of California, Irvine, and dual undergraduate degrees in Gerontology and English from the University of Southern California, where she worked with Dr. Birren and graduated with Renaissance Scholar Distinction. taken in Los Angeles, California by @tracy_dubin

This video makes me so happy to have my hour of alone time away from the world. My life is a lil difficult right now with all the problems & simultaneous projects I have going on, so I'd honestly like to sleep on the restaurant patio or even outside on the street just for a wee bit, just a wee lil bit to disappear from extreme responsibility for awhile. It's always so obvious for me to recognize others who also hold up the fort vs the people who are dependants. I've only ever lived one way, & if I ever got married, I'd love to pretend I don't know how to do a goddamn thing. 💋🖤❤ by @tracy_dubin
