A quick countdown of the plein air paintings I’ve done throughout the last 2 years.

✨✨✨

There’s definitely a large chunk missing from this quick clip. Sometimes I just get so caught up in painting I forget to record.

I painted vibrant sunsets and serene marinas, each clip in this countdown marking a moment of inspiration and growth.

Painting outdoors lets me feel the elements and find tranquility in nature. Here’s to creating many more landscapes and memories🌹

Rosalia Lux Tour 2026 🥀

She was amazing✨🫶🏽

I was so close to bringing my painting of Rosalia to try to give to her at the end of the show, but it got left behind in the rush of making it on time 🥲 (next time though♥️)

Hunter Biden’s (@hunter.biden) favorite painting at the whole show was the one of Trump getting body-slammed. Let me explain.

I painted it. It’s called “El Santo Contra La Tiranía.”

I didn’t grow up on El Santo’s films. Lucha really clicked for me three years ago at my first lucha libre show in Mexico City. I was thrown by how loud and vulgar the crowd was, until my cousin told me to relax… this is how working people blow off steam after a long week. This is theirs.

That’s when I understood . Lucha libre is storytelling for everyday people, and El Santo was one the biggest heroes of it.

The only time he ever showed his face in public was a week before he died. Otherwise the mask never came off.

He wasn’t really a wrestler anymore.

He was a symbol.

So I asked myself: if El Santo made a movie today, who would he be fighting? On screen he took on vampires, aliens, even Nazis. I just gave him a new villain.

Then last week my friend @susiesilvacreative tells me Hunter Biden came through @superchiefgalleryla @labulla opening, took a selfie with my painting, and called it his favorite piece in the show. I’m still not over it.

I’m first-generation Mexican-American, and I’m feeling this moment in a way I never have. Watching people who came here for a better life (people like my parents, family friends and peers) treated as less than human. It breaks something in me. But I’m proud of where I come from, and proud to be here.

So when I ask who El Santo would be fighting today? I think we already know.

Still buzzing from Hearts Gallery opening earlier this month🙏🏽♥️

Grateful to have been part of the grand opening of @heartsgalleryla (at @modernmultiples )

The legendary Chinatown print studio founded by the late Richard Duardo, where icons like Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, Basquiat, and Warhol all left their mark on LA’s creative legacy. To have work on those walls, even as a small part of the night, was surreal.

The inaugural show brought together works by the late Richard Duardo, Erika Galvez @erikaka.renee, @julianprolman, @sissonsisson, @kar_part, @obeygiant, @edruschaofficial, @chaz_bojorquez, @estevanoriol, and more I wish I could name. All generations and movements bridged in one room.

Thank you to @artofthegreatwhitebuffalo ( @julianprolman )for the invite and for thinking of me, and to Montana @montanimals for carrying forward what his uncle built🙏🏽

The legacy is in good hands.

If you’re in LA and care about art, music, and the people keeping this city’s creative heart beating, keep your eyes on Hearts Gallery. This is a very, very special place.

This is just the beginning♥️

Excited to share my new painting El Santo Contra La Tiranía for the years La Bulla (@labulla) at @superchiefgallery this May 16th🙏🏽

El Santo has over 100 films and has always been a hero to those who can’t defend themselves. He’s a symbol of justice and courage rooted in Mexican culture. I started thinking: if he made a movie today, what would it be about?

It would be about us. About tyranny. About someone showing up when no one else will.

The signs in this painting are real. From No Kings marches, photographed by me and my family and pulled from the news.

Any filmmakers down to make this movie?

The canvas is a wooden mask created by the amazing artist 2nd Wind @2ndwnd 🙏🏽

Special thank you to @antoniopelayoproductions and @isaacpelayo 🥀

Tracy Chavez @tracyanahy is a self-taught oil painter living and working on the Westside of Los Angeles. Her work spans portraiture and plein air, but her narrative paintings are where she lives… each piece rooted in a specific feeling, a moment, a story that needed to exist. She doesn’t paint from observation alone; she paints from conviction.

‘El Santo contra la Tiranía’ reimagines the legendary luchador, holder of one of cinema’s most prolific franchise records, as the hero of today. Painted on a wooden mask canvas with real signs from the No Kings marches, it asks: if El Santo had a movie coming out right now, who would he be fighting?

One artists trash is another artist’s treasure🥀

Sharing this painting process from last year’s painting of this used canvas I found in the trash.

At the time, the fires were burning by home in Santa Monica and I felt strong urge to relieve this anxiety. This painting was different than what I normally do, but I got to feel like a kid again (with no pressure for perfectionism, just enjoying the whole process).

Inspired from recurring dreams with crocodiles 🐊♥️

Artist Spotlight: @tracyanahy is a self-taught Mexican-American painter based in Los Angeles. Working in two modes—plein air painting from life and studio-built surreal allegories—her work connects Mexican cultural memory with contemporary narratives of resilience, spirituality, and humanity’s relationship to nature. Self-directed and refined through mentorship with contemporary artists, Chavez has developed a recognizable visual language that bridges observation and imagination. She is a resident artist at Honey Drop Gallery, through which she participated in a 2 month residency @thevaultartgallerydtla - In this work, Tracy presents herself moving through a field of red rose bushes, an environment that holds both beauty and resistance.
The imagery draws from a dream shared by a former partner, in which he reaches to pick a rose and is pricked by its thorns. A native woman cautions him not to pick the roses yet—they are not ready.
Rather than reaching for the roses, The native woman/ being Tracy continues walking forward. The work reflects grounding, patience, and the understanding that clarity and growth take time. #selfportrait #oilpainting For sale $3000 by @tracyanahy
