This weekend, my sister and I tried acrylic fluid painting (or pour art) for the first time. This might become an addiction.

Seven years in the making!

Today, I'm thrilled to announce the release of Road Trip in the Rearview: How One Spontaneous Decision Changed Everything.

If you enjoy low-budget travel, camping, exploring the backroads, this book is for you!

If you've followed me for a few years, you may remember that Tim and I went on a 6-month road trip in 2019 and wrote a book about our first half of that journey called Go West, His Momma Said. But I never finished writing about the second half of our trip - until now!

Road Trip in the Rearview includes all the text from Go West, plus 22 NEW chapters chronicling our journey up the east coast and then across the north to out west again. In Road Trip, I removed all the images, except for the maps and a couple of other shots for context, to make for an easier reading experience. I've also updated some of the information I provided in the first edition, and added some "In Hindsight" sections or comments throughout.

I also shared some events that occurred on our trip that I wasn't sure about sharing, because I still can't explain them.

I would love for you to read Road Trip in the Rearview and let me know what you think - good, bad, ugly, or indifferent.

I would appreciate any help spreading the word, too!

Photos included here: Sheyenne Grasslands, North Dakota; Niagara Falls, NY; Grand Canyon, AZ; Anahuac, TX; Campground just outside Carlsbad, NM; and Acadia National Park, ME. 1st image: partial book cover of Road Trip in the Rearview shows a photograph of a rearview mirror, looking back to a rainbow over the highway. The title sits in the corner of the mirror. by @tracyruckman

Yesterday, I created a reel and posted it as a trial, intending to share it today. It was a reel I'd just made, saying the hermit had come out of hiding because it was a video of me (face forward for the first time, not behind the camera) displaying some of my art. IG decided it looked too much like my other content, so it was not shared.

Today, I'll just say Hello and encourage us all to keep creating our stories and our art. by @tracyruckman

I finally loaded some of my fluid art to the website.

Estuary is my absolute favorite.

I grew up on a large lake in Alabama. Our days were spent in creeks, sloughs, channels, and wide open water, fishing, swimming, skiing, floating - some of the best times of my life. This fluid art painting reminds me of those beautiful days and my lifelong love of being on, and in, the water. I even owned a hot pink bikini at one time. 😉🤭

Thought I'd share a quick glimpse of my cancer journey during the National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

On Feb 10, 2023, I spotted a lump in the mirror. On Feb 14, I had an exam and was sent for a mammogram and ultrasound, which led to biopsies, then a lumpectomy. In May, I started chemo that ended Sept. In Oct/Nov, radiation. In May 2024, I finished immunotherapy. I am on a hormone blocker until 2029, but I am grateful to be cancer free.

To God be the glory.

Do your monthly exams. Listen to your body.

You can read more of my cancer journey in my book The Pink Pages: A Practical A-Z Guide for Your Cancer Journey.

I also created a journal for cancer patients to record their own journey, Days to Remember: A Journal for Your Cancer Journey.

Links to both are in my bio. by @tracyruckman

Two perspectives.

When we were doing the pour paints, my sister said she was going to do something with fall colors. I told her I'd do the same and we'd see how similar they are. Hahaha. No similarity whatsoever.

In the first image, she chose gentle oranges, yellows, browns, while in the second image, I chose all the bright colors.

"This wonderful children's book will spark the imaginations of children as they read about a simple time with simple pleasures! I loved the thoughtful questions inserted into the story. Will order multiples as gifts for family and friends!" — 5-Star Amazon Review by @tracyruckman
