Eswatini marks its independence this weekend, one of the smaller nations on the continent by size, and a reminder that trade weight has never been about land mass. Its sugar and textile exports move through ports and partnerships far bigger than its borders.

We think about scale differently at TrafriQ too. Whether a seller is a single artisan or a large exporter, the table we are building has a seat sized for both.

Wishing Eswatini a peaceful independence weekend. Follow along, more seats are being added to the table every week.

People ask when TrafriQ goes live far more often than they ask what has to happen before it can. Fair question, wrong order.

Verification systems, payment rails, logistics partnerships, dispute resolution, none of that can be rushed without the whole structure buckling the first time something goes wrong for a real seller with real money on the line.

We would rather spend the unglamorous months now, in the room with partners and investors, than spend the years after launch repairing trust we broke by moving too fast.

If you have watched a platform launch too early and pay for it later, tell us what you saw. We are taking notes.

They are known in trade circles simply as the Cotton Four, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali, among the most cotton dependent economies on earth, exporting the crop that clothes much of the world.

Very little of that cotton is spun, woven or sewn on the continent that grew it. It leaves as raw fiber, travels to textile mills abroad, and returns as finished garments, often at prices that dwarf what the raw cotton was sold for.

The fiber is African. Most of the fashion built from it is not. Closing that loop, from field to finished cloth, is exactly the kind of trade shift a platform like TrafriQ is built to support.

Tag someone in textiles or fashion manufacturing who is trying to close that loop.

We spent this month making the case, for intra-African trade, for value capture, for trust as infrastructure, for a marketplace built around the continent's actual range of goods.

That case did not need to be made to convince you it is possible. It needed to be made so you would hold us to it.

In September, we start showing more of what has been built behind the scenes. Same honesty, more substance.

Stay close. Follow TrafriQ, and if you have not joined the early access list yet, now is the moment.

A month ago, most of you did not know what TrafriQ was.

This month, we talked about intra-African trade, shea butter, escrow, gold pricing and a history we refuse to build around instead of through.

We are still not live. That has not changed. What has changed is that more people are sitting closer to the table, asking sharper questions, and holding us to a higher standard, which is exactly what we asked for.

Thank you for spending August with us. September has more coming, including a closer look at who gets a seat first when the doors open.

If you have not already, join the early access list, link in bio. The next seats fill fastest.

We have spent this month talking about trade corridors, escrow, certificates of origin and everything in between.

Now we want to hear from you.Drop your questions below, about TrafriQ, about African trade, about what it actually takes to build a marketplace before a single transaction has happened.

We will answer as many as we can, honestly, including the uncomfortable ones.No corporate deflection. If we do not know something yet, we will say so.

Ask your question in the comments. We are answering all week.

Ethiopia and Sudan alone supply a significant share of the world's sesame seed. West Africa feeds the global chocolate industry.

East African highlands grow some of the most sought after coffee on earth. This is before we even mention livestock, timber, spices and fish. The range is the point.

Nobody sources one thing from Africa, they source everything from Africa, just rarely from Africa directly. Most of it still passes through international trading hubs before it reaches its final buyer.

An aggregator built for this continent's actual range of goods, not a narrow category, is the only kind of marketplace that reflects how diverse African trade really is.

Tell us one African agricultural product you think deserves more global attention.

Yesterday, the world paused to remember a trade system that treated African people as cargo.

Today, we keep building the opposite, a system where African producers, traders and buyers set the terms. It would be easy to treat that history as closed. It is more honest to treat it as unfinished business.

The tools have changed, container ships instead of galleons, mobile money instead of ledgers, but the underlying question is the same one it always was: who controls the terms of Africa's trade? We intend for the answer, increasingly, to be Africa itself.

Follow TrafriQ as we build toward that answer, one week at a time.

This weekend marks the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. It is a heavy date, and we are not going to rush past it with a clever line.

For centuries, Africa's people were the cargo in a trade system built entirely for someone else's benefit. That history is not separate from the work we are doing now, it is part of why the work matters.

Every platform that helps an African producer trade on fair terms, set their own price and reach a buyer directly is a small correction to a very old imbalance. We do not carry that history lightly, and we are not building TrafriQ as if it does not exist.

Take a moment this weekend to reflect. Follow along as we keep building toward a trade system that finally works in Africa's favor.

We need to retire a lazy idea. Africa is not short on wealth.

This continent holds a significant share of the world's cobalt, platinum, gold, manganese, diamonds and arable land, and increasingly, its most valuable resource of all, its people.

What Africa has genuinely lacked is the connective tissue, the roads, the trusted platforms, the financing and the trade relationships that turn raw wealth into captured value.

That is an infrastructure gap, not a resource gap, and infrastructure gaps can be closed by the people willing to build through them. That is the bet we are making with TrafriQ.

Do you agree, is it infrastructure, or something else, holding African trade back? Tell us your honest take.
