Homemade smoked stock adds a southern flair to the grits and compliments our unique maple BBQ sauce, made with just a dash of heat. Perfect balance of sweet and savory 💚 rounded out with bacon and locally sourced Gouda cheese, enjoy in the morning to start your day or end your miles with comfort in a bag! I'm absolutely terrible at updating my social media! I dont grab pics when I should, and it's a constant battle to remind myself to post. But!! It did allow me to take a second to shout out some of our most loyal customers - our hiking homies that we haven't had a chance to meet in person but have been with us from the beginning! @gregmortonoutdoors is an example of that. From his thru of the AT in '22 to the Florida Trail and other hikes in between, he's been a constant support, and we are proud to have been brought on his journey! We appreciate all of y'all 💚

We've almost filled a few large private orders and will list multiple meals soon! We have had to shuffle some things around with more quantities being added to the existing orders and didn't want to list meals without knowing exactly how many are leftover! We also love receiving orders like the ones we've been working on , there are so many awesome non-profit groups we've been able to feed! The outdoor community continues to amaze us! We're back!! Some of our followers may know, but for the ones who don't, I have lupus. Recently, my lupus began to affect my vision, and I was unable to be in the kitchen. It was rough going for a while, and I was stoked to be able to get back to doing what I love doing. It may be touch and go for a bit, at least for a few more months but I appreciate everyone that's still here💚 We've decided to go with a classic meal - Caribbean smoked chicken with dirty rice and cabbage- perfectly spicy and filling. It's pawpaw season!! Which for us also means hiking season. In so many parts of Appalachia, when the pawpaw ripens, fall is on the horizon! After a sweltering Virginia summer of making our friends with severe food allergies and restrictions specialized recipes, we are back in the kitchen to restock the regular menu! Starting with our Hawaiian smoked pork with coconut rice and pineapple salsa💚

For the new followers- we have a bit of an unorthodox ordering system. I danced the website dance, only to quickly find out that our small batch , made from scratch meals, would typically sell out immediately to single ordering customers, we now have a meal drop system. I make a post and communicate through DMs to ensure more hikers get to enjoy our gourmet goodness! We have a long line of DMs that I'll be working through today💚

If availability lasts on this batch, drop a DM, and I'll get out to everyone that I can. Next up is our Caribbean chicken meal. by @trailboundva

We are so honored to have been carried to the top! We have met so many wonderful folks over the years and have gotten to live vicariously through the miles with y'all! We are so proud of @bragg_tom and all of the other hikers making their way up! Or down to the sobo's. Perfect day for a hiker meet on water! A beautiful section of the Tuscarora Trail runs through Sleepy Creek, and it's absolutely wild and wonderful. We love hikers that reach out and want to grab meals in person! I've come to realize that I'm terrible at Instagram life! I need to get better about updating online and not only focusing on in person sales, even though we love pop-up events and meeting folks. I appreciate all of my online customers and decided to do a stock room clean out to get ready for our new smoker! I'm upgrading to a much bigger smoker and can't wait to have a summer of smoked fun! I am going through all the remaining inventory today and will be getting rid of at a discount!

🌸 Couldn't decide which flower pic I like best, so I went with both! 🪻

Spring has officially sprung at TrailBound! Our orchard and garden are blooming, and with the new season comes a new recipe! Recently, I had an opportunity to learn how to make Authentic Thai Peanut Chicken Curry with an amazing teacher and loved it so much that I'm bagging it for y'all. Chicken, ginger, garlic, carrots, and sweet potato ( gotta get all the calories in there) layered in a creamy, spicy, coconut milk broth, it's one of my favorite meals already!

Limit two per customer, made a smaller batch to make sure it would pass muster, and will be immediately making more! It is spicier than the other curries we've tasted in the freeze dried game but absolutely chocked full of flavor! Living so close to two amazing trails is a beautiful thing. The Appalachian Trail and the lesser known but our personal favorite, the Tuscarora Trail, wind through our area and our hearts. It's such an awesome experience to be able to meet and feed people from all over and be knee-deep in the woods while doing it! For everyone flip flopping, section hiking, nobo or sobo- give us a shout when you get to Front Royal, we'd love to meet ya, feed ya, or help y'all out if you need it! 💚 taken in Virginia by @trailboundva

Finally, back with a small batch authentic creole jambalaya! Flavor filled spicy goodness over andouille sausage, shrimp, the holy trinity, and rice. Filling, rich, and delicious, it will warn you right up on trail. Limited quantities are available, and we've already got some folks set aside if you already reached out💚 . Long time since the last update! Everyone who's been following along from the beginning knows about the ups and downs of our business journey, and I appreciate each and every one of you for sticking it out. I've tried to be extremely transparent in our journey, even though it's been far more arduous than we ever anticipated. When we started, there was only ONE freeze dryer company available to folks in our industry and we had no choice ( other than having mountain house money and spending 300k) but to go with what was available. The problems started within the first year and continued to progress to the point of us wanting to throw the towel in. We invested absolutely everything into it because I believe in our products, and I know I'm damn good at what I do. It's gotten to the point of us ( and so many people in our field of work) being bottoms up with nothing but expensive paperweights. But a silver lining emerged! There is FINALLY another company producing freeze dryers available for "in home purchase." Finally, another option that can save so many people that decided to take this route and I couldn't be more excited! After the holidays, we hope to be owners of an actual reliable unit to continue my passion. To everyone looking into at home freeze dryers - do your research on the first company that pops up on Google and save yourself thousands of dollars, trust me💚.
