Can’t hardly believe we’re only 1/2 a month away from our last Trail Feast x Benchmade wilderness dining series of 2026

It’s been nearly two months since the fires tore through Spokane.

The smoke has cleared, but for a lot of folks, the hard part is just beginning. There’s a long road ahead. Homes to rebuild. Lives to put back together. Neighbors who are still going to need a hand.

But I’ll tell you what—I’m damn proud of this community.

And I’ll never forget the men and women who ran toward those fires while the rest of us were trying to get out of their way.

Firefighters stood their ground in brutal conditions, protecting homes, families, livestock, and entire communities. They worked through the heat, smoke, exhaustion, and uncertainty—and they kept going. That kind of courage deserves more than our thanks. It deserves our respect.

And behind them, a community showed up.

Some gave a lot. Some gave what little they had. Others rolled up their sleeves, fired up a grill, hauled supplies, opened their homes, wrote a check, or simply asked, “Where do you need me?”

Every meal served, every dollar given, every hour volunteered, and every hand extended mattered.

Fire can take a lot from a place. But it can’t take the grit, courage, generosity, and neighborly spirit I witnessed here in Spokane!

Teaming up with @chefchadwhite for @trailfeast in Washington this October, right when fall frost starts creeping in, the mornings bite a little harder, and the timber takes on a quiet, heavy stillness.
This is the final run of the @trailfeast x @benchmadeknifecompany 2026 series, and we’re going out swinging. We’re closing out the season with a menu that matches the landscape, deep, complex, and forged in the coals. This is a weekend for the die-hards. Shout out to these hero’s and our team of chefs, friends and community who came together to help us prepare over 1200 meals for fire victims and 1st responders over the last few days.

Up for 45 hours—time to clean up and get a couple hours of rest before we do it all over again.

The fight ain’t over yet!!
