🌸 Wildflower wanderings through Australia’s South West

The South West is putting on its Djilba and Kambarang colour show—come and see what’s blooming!

More than 8,000 species of wildflowers bloom across the South West region, with around 80% of its plant species found nowhere else on Earth. From tiny orchids hiding on the forest floor to colourful mountain blooms, there’s plenty to discover between now and November.

Ready to go bloom hunting? Here are a few trails to get you started:

⛰️ Stirling Range National Park trail network – With six spectacular trails and more than 1,500 native plant species, this location is a wildflower lover’s playground.

🌼 Wildflower Wander, Kondil Park, Nannup – 3.3km – Wander through jarrah, marri, sheoak and balga bushland, slowing down to search the understorey for delicate spider, donkey, greenhood and snail orchids.

🎨 Understory, Art in Nature, Northcliffe – 1.2km – Wildflowers meet art on this unique forest adventure. Keep your eyes peeled for colourful lobelias and fan flowers, along with spider, helmet and midge orchids emerging from the forest floor.

🌺 Harvey Wildflower Ridge Walk – 1.4km – This gently undulating trail winds past granite outcrops with sweeping views across Harvey Dam and towards the coast. Take your time, enjoy the wildflowers and keep watch for a bright blue wren flitting through the undergrowth.
