It’s easy to show your best; the finished product. But, what about the setbacks? What about the work it took to get there? Here’s a look at what happens when you chase superficiality, get complacent/lazy, and let excuses get the best of you.
.
.
Some time ago, I was OBSESSED with the idea of becoming as lean as possible, not once did I ever have a ‘v-taper’ or show signs of vascularity. I resigned myself to the idea that I could ever achieve it. Eventually, I got fed up with the pity party I kept having for myself, and made some changes.
.
.
Within a year, I did it. I achieved the vanity I thought I desired. Plenty of early mornings, fasted workouts, and doubt ridden days— but I got somewhere I’d never been before. Before this phase (2019) I hadn’t been this weight since middle school and being that ‘light’ was uncomfortable for me at first. But, I only had my eyes set on ‘looking good’, no matter the sacrifice. I finally climbed the mountain I’d been staring at most of my life. The mountain I looked up to quickly began to feel like an ant hill. Despite putting in the work, it felt foolhardy at best. I didn’t feel strong, I felt sunken in clothing, my lack of proper micro-nutrition only hurt my mental/physical health, and I’d eventually fall into injuries.
.
.
Around 2020, I gassed out. I got ‘comfortable’, gyms were closing down, and I wanted a break from the gilded routine I made for myself. I found an excuse and let myself go. I’ve exercised here-n-there since then, but as you can tell—nothing that kept me honest with myself.
.
.
I prefaced this post with ‘obsession’, because things like obsession, motivation, inspiration, ect, are all fleeting. Here today, gone tomorrow. What I needed was discipline. Discipline is the precursor for consistency, consistency is what will carry you through the hardest of days, and lead you towards your best. Im starting from a better place than I once did. Im wiser & more aware of the mistakes I made along the journey. Just cause you fall short of a goal, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep chasing it. I’m eager to see what this redemption-arc brings me. To longevity, wellness, and being better than you were yesterday. Back 2 work taken in Redemption by @trainedbydr

2-3 RIR, give or take.

Eager to see what a few months of consistency can bring

time will tell

Until then

I’ll keep manifesting to be the heaviest hoistin’ SOB northside of a commercial gym

The goal is to be mistaken for an industrial crane 🏗️

Someday 🤌

WHY I always do 5 minutes of dynamic warm-ups before my workout?⤵️

🩸 Increase Blood Flow: Dynamic movements raise your heart rate and dilate blood vessels, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your muscles, reducing your risk of injury.

🕺 Improve Range of Motion: Dynamic warm-ups involve active stretching, which helps improve flexibility and range of motion, enhancing your performance and reducing the chance of strains.

💪 Activate Muscles: Dynamic exercises activate specific muscle groups you’ll use during your workout, mentally preparing you and enhancing muscle readiness for the upcoming activity.

—————————————————————————————

No matter what Im working that day, I always incorporate this flow as apart of my warm up routine.

Doesn’t take much time, you’ll perform better than if you jumped into the workout cold, and your body will thank you later when you’re not so stiff.

Give it a try, and let me know how it feels 💌
