Girls On The Run…..is so much fun!!!

HPISD will offer this incredible program again for our third and fourth grade girls this fall!

We meet twice a week after school and as we are training to complete a 5K at the end of the fall semester, we talk about and practice what it looks like to be a good friend, accepting yourself and others, teamwork, setting and working toward a goal, etc. Runners and non runners are encouraged!!!

Please message me if you know a third or fourth grade girl who might be interested, want to volunteer with me or if you would like more information! by @trainermeredithboyd

We started these lunches about 8 years ago and they are always very encouraging and filled with practical action steps. The topic this time is a question and answer “Ask Dr. Megan anything!” You can submit your questions ahead of time or ask them live.
Message me for: the Zoom link, if you want Dr Megan to answer a question, to RSVP for lunch, or if you cannot attend but want the recording! by @trainermeredithboyd

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone the light remains.”

I got to run the NYC Half Marathon Sunday in honor of our beloved cousin, Sophia Sheridan DeTorres.  Wise and others focused well beyond her 16 years, Sophia would have been a junior at North Hunterdon High School in NJ when her life was tragically cut short in a car accident on the way to her first day of school.

When we were last together celebrating her grandfather Bill Boyd’s 75th birthday, the idea of running the NYC Half Marathon was born. Sophia was also an athlete and a runner and she loved the idea of interested family members doing the NYC Half Marathon together.

Sophia’s heart for others continues to shine on through her parents, younger brother and sister, by all the lives she positively impacted during her life and through the foundation in her memory, the Sophia’s Shining Light Foundation. Funds raised are used for grants, scholarships and events to recognize and support local organizations and individuals in Hunterdon County and the greater NJ area that promote inclusivity and care for those who are isolated, overlooked or underserved.

I am now passing the torch on to George! Since he couldn’t be in NY for the Half Marathon, he plans to honor Sophia by running the Camino de Santiago starting Sunday over his Spring Break.

The plaque that is now in the Champions Patio at the NJ Special Olympics headquarters captures Sophia beautifully:

“Sophia DeTorres
Stood tall.
Believed in hope for us all.
Champion with open heart.
A leader from the start.
She showed what love can be.
Changed her whole community.
Her star still lights the sky.”

Mission impossible became possible! We got to see George crush a 100K in Bandera, Texas before he went back to college. He ran 62 miles through the trails of the hill country with a windchill of 22°. It was so inspiring! We were freezing, exhausted and hungry just from crewing😂
Congratulations to my grit hero🥰🤩George, you are an inspiration! taken in Bandera, Texas by @trainermeredithboyd

Best start to a Monday! While I was training my morning classes, I noticed a man with some gorgeous flowers. I thought it was a lost delivery man, but it was my precious friend Gary who comes to my online workouts. He has been coming for 5+ years and today was the first time we have ever met in person! And the flowers were for me 🥹❤️🙌🏽 My heart is full! by @trainermeredithboyd
