POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Your first race doesn’t have to feel like a big leap.

No Boundaries is our 8-week training program for new runners, returning runners, and anyone ready to get consistent. This fall we’re building toward the BMW Dallas 5K and 10K.

Training starts Monday, October 19. Two weekly group meetups keep you accountable, and a step-by-step plan builds your fitness safely. When race day is done, your Performance Redefined membership keeps the training going.

Head to the link in our bio and select 5K or 10K to see everything included. 🏃 taken in Dallas-Fort Worth by @training.pr

Larry and Gio ran the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. First World Major for both, and Gio’s first marathon - what a way to start the marathon journey!

If you’ve done a Saturday long run with us, you know them as the ones greeting you at the start. They’re a big part of why these mornings run smoothly and feel like a community

Tell them congrats tomorrow at the long run. Remember the rush starts at 6am, Fleet Feet Mockingbird, so arrive 15-30 minutes to check in (details in the pinned posts)

Thanks for everything you two do to help people redefine performance every Saturday 🫡 by @training.pr

Sunrise. Track. Support. That’s how we start a Wednesday.

Waking up early to put in the work before the day gets going is a feeling you can’t fake. Fall marathon season is here and preparation for winter starts now. This morning was one piece of a bigger week.

Across our training programs, runners of every level are putting in work all week long. Some are building toward their first 5K. Others are chasing a 10K PR, a half or a full. Wednesday track is one of the ways we show up for all of it.

We’re out here every Wednesday at 6 AM at Germany Park. Come a few minutes early to warm up so you’re ready when the first rep starts.

Your goal race starts with one early morning. Come run the next one with us.

See you on the track. taken in Dallas-Fort Worth by @training.pr

Spectating tomorrow? Two spots where you can see your runner twice without crossing the city

River North: LaSalle and Ohio around mile 3, then walk two blocks to Wells and Grand for mile 12.5

Wentworth near Cermak andMichigan Ave near Cermak: you’ll catch them around mile 21.5 heading south and mile 24.5 heading north

People with great spectating tips worth following:
@marathonweekend with all the cheer station locations
@tesschupinsky has all the spots I went to last year if you’re adventurous

But whatever strategy or guide you follow, make sure to download the official race app to track your runners in real time. Best of luck navigating the streets on marathon Sunday!

@chimarathon expo day and bib pick up: Here’s how I get in and out of McCormick Place

Hours:Friday and Saturday 9am to 6pm

What to bring:
Photo ID, Your packet pickup ticket/QR code from your email (save it to your phone wallet)

Good to know:
Pickup is in person only. Nobody can grab your bib for you. No large bags or luggage, and everyone goes through security.

Coming from the airport? Drop bags at the hotel first if you can - I’m not sure if luggage storage is offered this year like last years

Getting there:
Transit - Green Line to Cermak-McCormick Place (Ashland/63rd / heading south, then it’s a 15 min walk
Bike - grab a Divvy bike. There’s a dock at McCormick Square and another at Cermak and Wabash
Rideshare - drop-off is the East Building

My expo is simple: bib, shirt, gels, and saying hi to friends working the booths. Then I leave. There are so many pop-ups and events this weekend that you don’t need to do all your shopping on the expo floor

Lost your ticket or your ID doesn’t match your registration? Go to Participant Services. Shirt doesn’t fit? There’s a shirt exchange at bag pickup

If you’re landing Saturday, the expo can take a big chunk of your day on your feet. Get in, get out, rest up for race day!

How I break down the @chimarathon course, section by section, with tips from my past Chicago marathons

1️⃣ Downtown: the first 5K is crowded and the buildings throw off your GPS. Run the blue line, take the tangents, and don’t panic if you’re off pace. You’ll cross the river on State Street around mile 2. In my fastest Chicago, a 2:50 in 2023 (6:30/mi), I ran 6:50/mi through the first 5K

2️⃣ North side: settle in. Lincoln Park Zoo around mile 5, the Lakeview turnaround around 8, Boystown on Broadway around 9. The crowds are electric, so don’t let the adrenaline pick the pace, and don’t forget your gels

3️⃣ West side: you cross the river on Wells Street right before halfway. Soak it up, then it thins out after mile 14. The United Center around 16, Little Italy on Taylor Street around 18, Pilsen on 18th Street at 19 to 20. Closer to mile 20 is where it gets hard. That’s what the training was for

4️⃣ South side: Chinatown at 21, Bronzeville and the turnaround at 35th Street around 23, then back north on Michigan Ave. Roosevelt comes right after mile 26. Start your sprint near the top. It’s all downhill from there

Every section tests you differently but don’t forget to have fun too. A Chicago bib isn’t easy to get, so enjoy the miles you worked for!

Which mile are you most nervous about, and which one are you most excited for?

My packing list for Chicago, whenever you’re ready to start (ideally not morning of 😬)

4 Chicagos in and the list has changed but includes many staples/usuals (I promise this will all fit in the bag):

📌A throwaway layer you won’t miss (Goodwill works)

📌shoes and fuel you’ve already tested, and a gear check bag that does more than hold a jacket

📌Dry clothes, loose pants, shower wipes, and recovery sandals mean you can go straight to food and celebrating (let the busy roads and transit wind down a bit)

Save this and work through it before you fly out. Slide 5 is the piece most people skip:

1️⃣ set your A/B/C goals to manage expectations

2️⃣then pick where you’ll check them: 10K, halfway, mile 20 (Mile 20 is a bad place to start doing math)

What’s always in your bag that isn’t on this list? Drop it below 👇

Next week is @chimarathon number 5 for me…which means another guide launch 🚀

Coaching and building out our training programs took most of my time this year, so my own running took a back seat. My goal for this one is simple: finish

4 trips in, I’ve learned that race week goes a lot smoother when you plan it. So for the next 6 days I’m posting everything I’ve picked up from four Chicagos: the course, the expo, getting there, the days before & after, and everything in between

Slide 5 is homework for today and tomorrow. Fail to plan, plan to fail (Cheesy but always true!)

Running Chicago? Drop your name below so I can track you on Sunday
