How can we teach kids living near the Italian-Slovenian border words from the neighbouring language they encounter every day in a fun, memorable, and interactive way? 🇸🇮🇮🇹

Traditional food is a great starting point, as it combines language learning with discovering traditions that have been part of this region for generations. 👌🏽🤌🏽

In collaboration with the Gravisi Museum, we designed, developed, and built an interactive station where kids learn foreign words while “cooking” traditional dishes from the region. ✨

Each ingredient is represented by a wooden object with an integrated RFID chip linked to a specific word. When a child sees the name of an ingredient on the display, they have to find the right object and place it in the cooking pot area. Collecting five correct ingredients means successfully cooking the entire traditional dish. 🐟🍅🫒🧄🧂

Along the way, kids learn not only new words, but also delicious traditional recipes that have long had the power to connect people living on both sides of the border.

Around 20 creative spaces in the center of Maribor will open their doors on Friday, September 18, from 5 PM to 9 PM. ⏱️

Exceptionally, Trampolin Studio won’t be among the exhibitors this year, as we’re slowly moving into our new HQ, which is still under construction. 😎👷🚧

Napovedujemo novo edicijo Maribor Art Walk! 🎨🚶‍♀️

Že četrto leto zapored bodo tretji petek v mesecu, med peto popoldne in deveto zvečer na stežaj odprta vrata razstavišč, galerij in umetniških ateljejev, kjer bo obiskovalcem na voljo raznolik program razstav, otvoritev, vodenih sprehodov med prizorišči, obisk ateljejev in pogovorov z umetniki.

Maribor Art Walk je priložnost za sproščeno raziskovanje sodobne vizualne umetnosti, spoznavanje ustvarjalcev in odkrivanje prostorov, ki soustvarjajo živahen kulturno-umetniški utrip mesta. Na nekaterih lokacijah bodo obiskovalci lahko umetniška dela tudi kupili in s tem neposredno podprli sodobno umetniško produkcijo.

🏰Castello Leone (Lion Castle) was a 13th-century Venetian fortress built on the land bridge connecting the island town of Koper (Capodistria) with the mainland. It served as a defensive fortification and toll station before being demolished by the Austrian authorities in the 19th century.

✨For the Gravisi Museum, we designed and developed an interactive station featuring a custom-made game that allows visitors to discover the history of Lion Castle and the town of Koper in a playful and engaging way.

🎮The first part of the game is a skill-based obstacle course inspired by the bridge, which was frequently damaged due to poor construction materials and exposure to the sea. The second is a knowledge challenge in which players must answer the guard’s questions about the history of the castle. In the final part, players put their trading skills to the test by selling goods to the citizens of Koper.

💡Next time you’re in the Slovenian harbour town of Koper, visit the Gravisi Museum and give the game a try.
