As day turn to dusk, a series of living altars glows on my window sill. Healing. Detox. Love. Simple and beautiful. Powerful reminders that we must create the right environment for growth and grow into that intention. #witchesofinstagram #witchcraft #magickalherbs #horticulture #crystals by @trancesister

Behind the stacks at the Met Cloisters. It’s a lovely and lush rainy day after the storm. The harvest moon begins to wane and the floodwaters retreat. Until we have need of you again, to the spirits of wind and rain and water, we bid thee hail and farewell. And to the spirits of air, hail and welcome! taken in The Met Cloisters by @trancesister

@nolahexfest is wrapping up and it was a wonderful weekend of witchery in New Orleans. Because the books sold out so fast, I feel like I have disappointed people who were hoping for a signed copy so I am running a special for @nolahexfest attendees. Anyone who attended can receive a signed copy of the title of their choice shipped directly to them at no additional charge. The price will be the same as at the event. Comment the class that you liked the best or share a moment from HexFest in the comments! And please message me the title you would like sent and to whom you would like it inscribed. Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again! by @trancesister

Here is an update for my @witchcononline community. This living altar began as an offering to the collective consciousness for everyone who attended my presentation on Living Altars: Natural Magick for Manifestation. We used the jasper flame to represent creative inspiration and citrine for happiness and to remind us to exercise our free will for the benefit of all beings. We wrote our petitions for creative spark, abundance, health, and protection for our endeavors in the Theban Runes of Honorius and centered them in the earth. Normally, I would not set such a broad intention but since this was for a group, it felt important to do so. We chose the seeds to aid the purpose: grasses for quick lush abundance, borage (star flower) for happiness and wildflowers for the creative flow. Here is what happened. The first to grow was nasturtiums. A symbol of protection rose first, followed by the green grass and then finally the borage. If you look closely, you can see the borage chose a circular path and then rose up to greet the flame of inspiration. When it got to that point just above the flame, it bloomed. We also are getting frequent visits from a mourning dove who looks on approvingly. A living altar will remind you to nurture your dreams and it will hold you accountable for creating the right environment for growth. There are a few other living altars in this carousel. I am about to pack up these crystals and bring them to New Orleans for @nolahexfest to use in my Crystal Magick workshop. If you are inspired by this, or curious to learn more, come and meet me in New Orleans or tag me in your living altars! What seeds are you planting? What is your Lughnasadh harvest looking like? One added benefit of this particular living altar is that it is also edible. The nasturtiums, the borage, even the grass will be a part of an offering. Blessed be! by @trancesister

On the first full day of the July East Coast heat wave (with temperatures reaching 101°F in Brooklyn) , the backyard of @MamaTriedBK was on 🔥 with NYC cow punk band @StDivine_Official, led by punk/Americana veterans rrthurWill 🎤 🎸 & author @TranceSister 🎤 🎸, with @Barnzoni (of NYC '00s county folk rock band Oakley Hall) on bass/🎤, Philip Yanos 🎸, and Michael Ratti 🥁 (who played with Jay & The Americans on their 1969 U.S. Top 10 cover of Doc Pomus/Mort Schuman-penned classic for The Drifters), celebrating the June release of their debut LP The Devil You Know (see the current @BigTakeoverMag print issue & website for @DancingAboutArchitecture65's review of "30 Dolls" and "The Devil You Know" from the LP https://bigtakeover.com/recordings/st-divine-the-devil-that-you-know-reel-to-reel-records) with a set full of spirited & witchy country punk blues.

With heat dropping to the low 90°s after sunset, the crowd called out for an encore, and St. Divine delivered a scorching cover of NYC-originated psychobilly innovators @TheCrampsOfficial 1981 B-side "New Kind of Kick" that segued into that same band's 1980 version of Pacific Northwest proto-punk legends @TheSonicsBoom garage rocker "Strychnine" ( from their 1965 debut LP Here are The Sonics), for a suitably sweaty send off.
