have yet to move beyond my cicada hyperfixation 🪽
wings were entirely hand sewn, and did appliqué with sheer fabric to emulate their texture/color! front details done with sharpie

feel like these guys are the ultimate metaphor for trans as a mode of being and the refusal to be fixed to the way things are and i love them so much!! would love to do any sort of cicada commission just lmk!!!

“holding, letting go: offerings from cicadas on selfhood, being, & (un)becoming” is a zine that uses the growth cycle of cicadas as a metaphor to reflect on the conditions of our selves, and how we might form new (and more liberating) ontologies. contemplations on introspection, authenticity, acceptance, forgiveness, trans/ience, freedom, & more

dm to order! can be purchased individually for $5-7 sliding scale, or in combination with its predecessor (“why do honeybees sting if it kills them?”), which similarly metaphorizes nature towards philosophical insights, for $10-14 sliding scale. both prices include shipping, pls allow ~2 weeks from order date, & if cost is a barrier just lmk!!!

this zine was produced alongside/through/as an elaboration of an art piece i made by the same title (holding, letting go), pictured on the last slide but will be posted separately, in full/with more details shortly :’)
