📢📢 Can you remember I was gardening like I was mad a few weeks ago?

My garden is going to be on the telly !!

I was super excited when @beechgrove_garden contacted me to film me in my garden.
Like what?
I'm just a newbie gardener winging it everyday.
My garden is not a garden of perfection or finished, but it's my happy place so I'm chuffed that I get to share it.
If i can engage just one person to start their gardening journey I would be thrilled.

I had a ball filming on the day . All thanks to the glorious weather and for Georgia and Will making me feel so at ease.

You can see me in my garden TONIGHT ,Thursday at 8pm on BBC SCOTLAND
Friday night at 7.30pm on BBC 2
Saturday at 10 am BBC 2
Monday 3pm BBC SCOTLAND
and can catch up on BBC iPlayer at any time.

You may see a few wee visitors so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Found it… and yes, I’m opening my garden again this August! 🌿

(Also still can’t believe my garden is in a book in Waterstones 😂)

Last year was such an amazing experience, all thanks to you and everyone who came to visit me and the garden — I loved it so much I’ve decided to do it all again with @scotlandgardenscheme 💚

We’ll be raising money again for @gch_charity and other Scotland’s Gardens Scheme charities.

My garden will be open on 15 August 2026, 11am–4pm — pop it in your diary, you won’t want to miss a lovely day out 🌸

Will you be coming?

Toys, dog toys, chairs, cushions and 💩 BE GONE!! 😂😂🙌

I’ve been putting this off for a while, but I just couldn’t look out the window and see everything lying about anymore! 🙈 It took me an HOUR AND A HALF just to tidy everything up… and that was without really doing any gardening! That’s how bad it had got! 😂😂

All my summer bedding is still in pots, and some are still flowering 🌸🌼, but it’s time to say goodbye to summer and get everything ready for our spring bulbs! 🌷🌱

Next job… tackling MY side of the garden! 😩😂 Someone send help now because if it’s anything like this side, I’m in for a long day! 🤣🤣

One step at a time, though! 💪🌿😂

The tomatoes are out, and the hydrangea flowers are in to dry. 🍅🌸

A little tip if you’re thinking of drying your own hydrangeas… if you want to keep their beautiful colours, I wouldn’t recommend drying them in the greenhouse. It’s best to let them dry out slowly and naturally in a vase. 🤍

But these ones have a different purpose! I’m actually looking forward to them turning those lovely soft, earthy shades of brown, like in the last picture. They’ll be perfect for making rustic wreaths. 🍂

There’s something so lovely about gathering things from the garden and giving them a new lease of life as the seasons change. 🌿

I can’t believe I’m still picking LOADS of sweet peas in October! 🌸 It’s crazy!!! Some of the stems are still so long too! 😍

I’ve left most of them to go to seed for next year, but I just had to bring a little bit of summer inside while I still can. 🥹

Who else is still picking sweet peas in October? 👇

Right… I’ve decided it’s time to do something drastic.

This rhododendron has got absolutely massive, and it’s taking over the garden.

So today, I’m biting the bullet and chopping it right back.

I’m slightly nervous… because there’s no going back now!

And once I started cutting… well, I just couldn’t stop.

Look at the size of that pile!

And here we are… the finished result.

Let’s just hope I haven’t completely ruined it! 😂

This is how my brain works… start a job and come back to it three weeks later 😂

My willow obelisk from Beeches Cottage Garden Nursery had become a bit top-heavy and was definitely in need of a good chop, so off I went with the secateurs and just went for it! ✂️🌿

Fast forward THREE WEEKS… and that’s me only just getting round to dealing with it 😂

To be honest, I think it worked out for the best because the leaves were so easy to strip off.

If you’re doing this yourself, wear your gloves — and the bigger stems will need a little snip to get them off.

I bundled everything into different sizes, tied them together and they’re now tucked away in the shed to dry. 🌿

You can make things with willow straight away, but right now I simply don’t have the time or energy… so we’re drying it instead!

The good thing is, when I eventually do decide what I want to make, I can just soak the willow again and it’ll become pliable enough to work with.

And just to be clear… I’m no willow expert! 😂 I’m just learning as I go.

So what should I make with it? 👇🌿

There’s definitely a little autumnal feeling creeping into the garden now… 🍂🍁

I’m going to soak up every bit of colour while I can, before everything slowly dies back and settles in for its winter rest.

To be honest, I don’t blame the garden one bit. I’m shattered too and could really do with a bit of a rest myself! 😂 Hence the radio silence.

Don’t worry, I’m still here, and the garden is still bringing me so much joy. 💚 There just aren’t any big jobs I fancy tackling at the moment. They can all wait until spring… can’t they? 😂

I may well regret that decision come April/May when everything suddenly needs doing at once! 🤦‍♀️😂

But for now, I’m happy to slow down, enjoy the changing colours, and let the garden have its winter rest. 🌿🍂✨

One of my proudest growing achievements this year has been growing my own gherkins! 🥒💚

All sliced up and in their pickle brine, ready to eat. 😋

It’s my youngest one’s favourite food… she’s a strange one, but so am I! 😂 I’m the person who eats people’s gherkins out of their McDonald’s burgers. 🤣🥒

Have you ever grown your own gherkins? 🌱
