After 3-6 months of prioritizing public transport though, a whole new world opens up, even when transit has gaps. Gas? Once a month. Crashes? Not me buddy. Road rage? Try chilling on the bus with an audiobook. Getting cut off? Nah I’m doing my Duolingo. Drunk drivers? I’m tipsy on the bus and it’s a vibe ✨

In fact, close down MORE blocks for your car show. Walk from car to car to local restaurant. Admire the ocean. Listen to children laughing because there’s no background traffic noise. Sit at a community table. Recognize a neighbor.

A normal weekend or holiday means I have to walk 30 minutes to the nearest bus stop, and getting out of my neighborhood takes, at minimum, an hour. Ya girl loves a refreshing morning walk, but we can also acknowledge this is not efficient or effective design. I am forever committed to the stress free lifestyle of reducing my driving, but this design creates a higher barrier to entry for many.
