Bidding on the works in our Enchantment auction ends today at 8pm BST.

We have just a few artists left to highlight! This is @luciajones.art ‘Dis-enchantment incoming in 3, 2, 1…’, 2026, oil & acrylic on board, 10 x 10 cm.

You can bid on this ‘Mad Men’ inspired gem via DM or email - head to the link in bio for all the work and bidding details. All money raised goes towards producing @garagelandmagazine

Lucia Jones is a Welsh painter and 2025 Wakelin Award recipient. Since graduating from Falmouth University she has exhibited internationally in solo and group shows including BEEP 2018/24, and she has been longlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize (2020). Her work is held in private and public collections.

Jones explores memory and female experience through paint, drawing on B-movies from the 1950s–1990s, art history, and her own photographs to recontextualise women as anonymised subjects within fractured, fabricated environments. Painting is a process of recollection and reframing — an act of dismantling and re-assemblage, of history and image, of personal and collective memory, through the female gaze. Each composition begins as a digital collage, drawn, cut in vinyl, and then painted element by element. Through what is included and omitted, the work interrogates how female identity is constructed and negotiated: the stereotypes and tropes imposed on women, and how those are internalised and resisted. The paintings are ciphers for lived experience — to be glimpsed and examined, inhabiting the tension between societal constraint and personal autonomy.

Next up in our profile of Enchantment works is @hayleylock ‘s ‘Feeling my way through this velvety darkness’, 2026, coloured pencil on fabriano paper, 21 x 30 cm

You can bid on all of the Enchantment artworks via DM or email - all the info is in our bio. Bidding ends tomorrow, 18 June, at 8pm.

Hayley Lock’s research interests concentrate on the occult and historical occult practices with a particular focus on female otherness within mediumistic practice, identities and locations.

At the centre of her practice is a core interest in the sense of an eternal state of transformation, as a way of escape from the real. She is currently undertaking a body of research that looks to archetypal and esoteric symbols along with Jungian phenomena that looks at the self, other and the wider world view through historical, psychological and material alchemy.

Lock studied at The University of London, Goldsmiths College and The University of Essex and has shown work across the UK and beyond. Solo shows in the UK have included exhibitions in historic houses and at The Minories Gallery in Essex. Performances have taken place for the British Psychological Society in Senate House, London and with London Fortean Society at Conway Hall, as part of Art/Magic/Lore.

We have two enchanting watercolours by @archie.franks in our Enchantment fundraiser for @garagelandmagazine - ‘Fairground’ & ‘Midsummer Match’.

Bid via DM or email - all the info via the link in our bio. Bidding ends at 8pm tomorrow (Thurs 18 June).

British painter Archie Franks was born in 1983 and lives and works in London. His works explore familiar cultural motifs such the fairground, puddings and football. Memory, decadence, and a heightened sense of unreality permeate his imagery, often revealing the haunting undertones that nostalgia can evoke.

Frank’s inspirations include the atmospheric lighting in Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s paintings, modern advertisements for food, and Caravaggio’s still lives. His often, seemingly light, subject matter belies a sense of foreboding. Stormy skies above a fairground ride, and ghostly cricket players in their whites

Franks holds his post graduate diploma, The Royal Academy Schools, 2012, and a First-Class BA, Honours, City & Guilds London Art School, 2009. The artist is the recipient of various awards and honours including the Jerwood Painting Fellowship, 2016, the Sainsbury Scholarship in Painting, The British School at Rome 2013; Tooth Award 2012; Gordon Luton Award 2012; Richard Ford Award, 2011; and the Philip T Ribbon Award, 2011.

He has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows both in the UK and in Europe, including ‘Bloomberg New Contemporaries’, 2013 as well as having contributed articles to publications ‘Garageland’ and ‘Arty’. His work has been positively reviewed in ‘Time Out’, ‘Critic’s choice in the Financial Times’, ‘Art Monthly’, ‘This is Tomorrow’ and ‘Fad magazine’ amongst others. In 2025 he was selected for the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Other recent ventures and exhibitions include launching new prints at the 2025 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and exhibiting in the 2025 Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.

*Bidding in our Enchantment fundraiser ends tomorrow, 18 June at 8pm*

Next in our cycle through the Enchantment works is a painting by London-based artist @carolinaambida - ‘Jackie’ is oil on canvas and 30 x 25 cm.

Bids for any of the Enchantment works can be made by DM or email. Follow link in bio to see all the work as well as full bidding info.

‘Carolina Ambida uses pastel colours in her artworks as a method of activating her own and her viewers’ senses between a mediated image and the resulting painting. Her approach does not, however, prescribe anything. Instead she talks about the joy of encountering the new and unexpected. Pastel colours offer a conducive atmosphere and evocation of a dream state where lines between known and unknown blur. Whilst Ambida is aware of the ‘cute’ overtones of the pastel universe (referring to the 2024 ‘Cute’ exhibition at the Courtauld), she believes we are more likely to get drawn into narratives where these tones are involved. They allow her to gently and subtly tease something out of an image, letting her own experiences colour her response’. (Text by Lucy Cade-Stewart)

Ambida has a BA from Goldsmaiths College London and an MA from Central St Martins, London. Recent exhibitions include Memento Amoris, The Lido Stores, Margate, 2026; SOHO OPEN 2025, GPS GALLERY, London; The Lido Open 2025, Lido Stores, Margate; Quiet. Bright, Terrace Gallery, London; In the Light of Her Mirror, Transition Gallery at SAFE HOUSE 2, London SEI5, 2023; Picture Palace, Transition Gallery, London, 2020.

Another of the fantastic works in our Enchantment auction is ‘Adder and Remover’ by @jennifer_caroline_campbell It is oil paint and marble dust on wood panel and measures 20 x 20 cm.

If you like something you see in our cycle through the Enchantment works please do consider placing a bid - you decide how much you want to bid and let us know via DM or email (the link in our bio leads you to all the work and bidding info). Bidding ends at 8pm on 18 June.

Jennifer Caroline Campbell’s paintings are lumpy, like too much eyeshadow. The surface holding the picture is awkwardly visible and chromatically encrusted. This crust is shard of transformation and tells a fragment of story. Fantastical, girly, mythological, camp, and psychedelic scenarios open imaginative sidepaths for the potential dismantling of hierarchies.

Campbell graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2014 with an MFA in painting and full AHRC scholarship. Solo exhibitions include GLAMOROUS at Outpost Gallery Norwich, Cake Options and Escape Options at Transition Projects, Ever After Slices at Atalante Gothenburg and Power Puff Princess at Marcell Joseph Projects London. Recent group exhibitions include Flat Volume at A.P.T Gallery London, Blusher at Leicester Gallery, The Look at Transition Projects London and Witch Marks at The Minories Colchester.
