Some places stay with you because of what you see. Others stay with you because of the people you meet. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ชโค๏ธ

My visit to the Borjgalo Ethnographic Museum near Batumi was one of those experiences Iโ€™ll remember.

A huge thank you to Kemal Turmanidze, the creator of this incredible museum, and our wonderful guide for the warm welcome, the fascinating stories, and such a memorable tour.

What made this visit special wasnโ€™t just seeing Georgiaโ€™s traditional way of life โ€” it was hearing the stories behind it from people who genuinely care about preserving their heritage.

Kemal has dedicated his creativity and work to bringing the past to life, and you can feel that passion throughout the museum.

Thank you for sharing this experience with us and helping us create such a special video together. It was a pleasure meeting you both!

And to everyone planning a trip to Georgia: put this place on your list. Trust me, thereโ€™s much more to discover here than you might expect. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช

Would you expect to find an entire world of traditional Georgian life just outside Batumi? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช

Welcome to Borjgalo Ethnographic Museum, a unique open-air museum dedicated to the culture and everyday life of Adjara, the region in southwestern Georgia.

But this isnโ€™t just a place where you look at objects behind glass.

Youโ€™ll discover traditional buildings, handmade crafts, agricultural tools and lifelike scenes showing how people lived and worked in earlier generations.

Hereโ€™s a fun fact: the museum was created by Kemal Turmanidze, who personally made its detailed carvings, figures and many of its displays.

Imagine turning years of craftsmanship, research and love for your homeland into a place where visitors from around the world can experience it.

Thatโ€™s what makes this museum so special.

Would you add this stop to your Georgia itinerary? ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช

๐ŸŽฅ Our full museum tour is on YouTube โ€” come explore it with us!

Small buildings. Big stories. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช

One of the things I love about ethnographic museums is that even the smallest exhibits can reveal so much about a place.

Religious buildings and sacred spaces have long been important parts of community life across Georgia. They tell stories taken in Ethnographic Museum Borjgalo by @travelerovic

Some places are beautiful because of what you see.

Others are fascinating because of what happened there.

Others are fascinating because of what you feel there.

Studenica is all of those!๐Ÿ””๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ธ

#Studenica #StudenicaMonastery #SerbiaTravel #VisitSerbia #ExploreSerbia

Hidden in the mountains of central Serbia, Studenica has been standing for more than 800 years.

And somehow, it still feels incredibly peaceful.

But behind these walls is one of the most important stories in Serbian history.

#BalkanTravel #HistoryTravel #MedievalHistory #EuropeanHistory #TravelStory

Studenica was founded in 1186 by Stefan Nemanja.

He wasnโ€™t just a monk or a ruler.

He was one of the most important figures in the formation of medieval Serbia.

Later in life, he gave up his throne and became a monk, taking the name Simeon.

This is just me being an angry bird ๐Ÿฆโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Cici sto si ljuta?

Jokes aside , now it is getting interesting

And this is where the story gets even more interesting.

Stefan Nemanjaโ€™s youngest son was Saint Sava.

He spent years at Studenica, where he helped shape the spiritual and cultural life of medieval Serbia.

In 1219, he established the independent Serbian Orthodox Church.

At first glance, Studenica looks incredibly simple.

But look closer.

The white marble walls are covered with detailed carvings โ€” including strange animals and mythical creatures.

Medieval architecture had its own way of telling stories.

The Church of the Virgin is one of the best examples of the RasฬŒka architectural style.

It combines Byzantine traditions from the East with Romanesque influences from Western Europe.

So even the building itself tells a story about the world Serbia was connected to almost 900 years ago.

And then you step insideโ€ฆ

Studenica is home to some of the most important medieval frescoes in Serbia.

The 13th-century paintings are considered masterpieces of Byzantine art.

The famous Crucifixion fresco is one of the highlights.

Thessaloniki, Greece ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท

Just two travelers appreciating a little bit of history.

Alexander the Great looking majestic as always.

Discussing his roots and origins and the Empire that he made!

#Thessaloniki #ThessalonikiGreece #Greece #VisitThessaloniki #VisitGreece

Then I thoughtโ€ฆ

โ€œAlexander had a horse. Why shouldnโ€™t I?โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ•

History was about to be rewritten.

#GreeceTravel #TravelEurope #ExploreGreece #EuropeanTravel #TravelBlogger

After that very serious historical moment, we continued exploring Thessaloniki.

Beautiful squares, busy streets, cafeฬs everywhere and that relaxed Mediterranean energy that makes you want to keep walking.

#ThessalonikiTravel #GreeceExplorer #EuropeExplorer #TravelPhotography

Of course, we couldnโ€™t leave without visiting one of the cityโ€™s most recognizable landmarks:

The White Tower.

Probably the most famous symbol of Thessaloniki.

And this is what I love about exploring cities with a friend.

You start with a planโ€ฆ

and five minutes later youโ€™re doing something that definitely wasnโ€™t on the itinerary.

Thessaloniki gave us history, beautiful architecture, good food, great viewsโ€ฆ

and apparently a new interpretation of ancient Macedonian warfare. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This was only a small part of the adventure.

๐ŸŽฅ The full Thessaloniki trip is coming to YouTube.

Follow along for more cities, unexpected discoveries, history, travel stories and questionable decisions.

Alexander the Great.

Legendary conqueror.
World-famous military leader.
Rider of Bucephalus.

And apparentlyโ€ฆ

my inspiration for the day. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท

I think we spend too much of our lives trying to get somewhere.

To the next city.
The next trip.
The next goal.
The next thing weโ€™re supposed to be doing.

And then, sometimes, youโ€™re standing on a quiet beach in Greece, walking beside water so clear you can see the bottomโ€ฆ

and you realize you donโ€™t actually want to get anywhere.

You just want to be here.

I was thinking about how strange life is.

We spend so much time waiting for the next big moment that we sometimes forget that a quiet afternoon, warm sand beneath your feet, and the sound of the sea can be enough.

No notifications.

No deadlines.

No reason to hurry.

Just you, the water, and your thoughts.

And maybe a book..

Maybe thatโ€™s what travelling gives us that we donโ€™t always talk about.

Itโ€™s not always the landmarks.

Itโ€™s not always the perfect photograph.

Sometimes itโ€™s the distance from your everyday life that finally gives you enough silence to hear your own thoughts.

This beach is in Paliouri, on the Kassandra peninsula of Halkidiki, Greece โ€” surrounded by pine-covered landscapes and the deep blue of the Aegean.

And thereโ€™s something beautiful about knowing that this same landscape has been here long before any of us arrived.

The area is connected with ancient Theramvos, a settlement mentioned by Herodotus more than two thousand years ago.

People came here long before us.

They walked these shores.

They watched the same sunsets.

And eventually, they disappeared into history.

One day, we will too.

So maybe the point isnโ€™t always to see as much as possible.

Maybe sometimes itโ€™s to stop.

Look around.

And actually be there.

For once, I wasnโ€™t thinking about the next destination.

I was just grateful to be exactly where I was.

๐Ÿ“ Paliouri, Kassandra, Greece ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท

When was the last time you had a moment where you genuinely didnโ€™t want to be anywhere else?

I thought I knew what I was going to find on Krkโ€ฆ I was wrong. ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ท

Beautiful Adriatic water? Obviously.
Stone streets? Of course.
Mediterranean atmosphere? Absolutely.

But an island with thousands of years of history, Roman roots, and a fascinating connection to one of the oldest writing systems used for Slavic languages?

That was the surprise.

Krk is the kind of place where you can spend the day chasing beautiful views and suddenly find yourself learning about Glagoljica (Glagolitic) โ€” a writing system developed in the 9th century that became an important part of Slavic religious and cultural history.

And then thereโ€™s the BasฬŒka Tablet, discovered on Krk and dating from around 1100 โ€” one of the most important early Slavic inscriptions.

The more I walked around, the more I realized:

Krk isnโ€™t just an island you look at.

Itโ€™s an island you slowly uncover.

A few moments from my camera roll ๐Ÿ“ธ

What surprised you most about Krk? ๐Ÿ‘‡

5 things I learned while exploring Krk Island ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ท

I came for the Adriatic views.

I left with a camera roll full of themโ€ฆ and a surprising amount of history.

Here are a few things I didnโ€™t know before visiting:

1๏ธโƒฃ The Romans called Krk โ€œCuricum.โ€
A reminder that this island has been important for a very, very long time.

2๏ธโƒฃ Krk was known as โ€œInsula Aureaโ€ โ€” the Golden Island. โœจ
And honestly, after seeing the coastline, itโ€™s not hard to understand why.

3๏ธโƒฃ The island has been inhabited for thousands of years.
So when youโ€™re walking through its old streets, youโ€™re walking through layers of history.

4๏ธโƒฃ Krk has a fascinating connection to Glagoljica (Glagolitic).
It was developed in the 9th century as a writing system for Slavic languages and became an important part of religious and cultural life in parts of the Adriatic.

5๏ธโƒฃ The BasฬŒka Tablet was discovered on Krk.
Dating from around 1100, itโ€™s one of the most important early Slavic inscriptions.

And thatโ€™s what I love about travelling.

Imagine a whole river turning into a party. ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŒŠ

This is the Drinska Regata โ€” one of Serbiaโ€™s most unique summer traditions, and honestly, something I think more people around the world should know about.

For a few days, the town of Bajina BasฬŒta comes alive, but the real spectacle happens on the Drina.

Hundreds of boats, rafts, music, friends, strangers, food, drinks and an incredible atmosphere come together for a massive descent down the river.

And the crazy part?

This tradition has been going since 1994. The Regata was created in memory of the legendary Drina raftsmen, and today it has grown into one of the biggest water events in Southeast Europe.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ธ Fun fact: The atmosphere is so wild that the Serbian Tourism Organization has nicknamed it the โ€œSerbian Rio Carnival.โ€ And after experiencing it, I can definitely see why.

But what I loved most wasnโ€™t just the spectacle.

It was the people.

You can arrive with your own friends and leave having met completely new ones โ€” because when everyone is floating down the same river, somehow strangers donโ€™t stay strangers for very long.

This is one of those experiences that photographs donโ€™t fully explain.

You have to be there. ๐ŸŒŠ

Would you join the biggest river party in Serbia?

Save this one for your Balkan travel list โ€” and follow Travelerovic for more places and experiences you probably havenโ€™t heard about yet. ๐ŸŒ

The full video will be uploaded on YouTube channel!

#ExploreSerbia #SerbiaTravel #TravelSerbia #BalkanTravel #ExploreTheBalkans

Most international travelers have never heard of this. ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŒŠ

๐Ÿ’š The Drina is often associated with the nickname โ€œGreen Riverโ€ because of its striking color.

๐Ÿšฃ During the Regata, participants travel roughly 15 km from Perucฬac Lake to RogacฬŒica on the Drina.

Running on almost no sleep probably isnโ€™t the smartest way to start a mountain adventureโ€ฆ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

But sometimes the best stories begin exactly like that.

Our first day in Prokletije was all about pushing through the exhaustion. Every step uphill felt a little harder, but with every turn, the views became even more unbelievable. By the time we reached the first peak, the lack of sleep didnโ€™t matter anymore. Nature had a way of making you forget everything except the moment youโ€™re in.

These are the kinds of places that remind you why the journey is always worth the effort.

Fun fact: Prokletije is often called the โ€œAlps of the Balkans.โ€ Stretching across Montenegro, Albania, and Serbia this mountain range is famous for its dramatic limestone peaks, deep valleys, and some of the most breathtaking hiking trails in Southeast Europeโ€”all without the crowds youโ€™d expect in the Alps.

And this was only Day 1โ€ฆ the adventure was just getting started. โ›ฐ๏ธ

Could you hike a mountain after staying awake all night?

#prokletijenationalpark #exploreeurope #explorebalkan #travelerovic #montenegrowildbeauty

Standing on one of Prokletijeโ€™s peaks, youโ€™re surrounded by a mountain range where dozens of summits climb above 2,000 meters, including Jezerce Vrh (2,694 m)โ€”the highest peak of the entire Dinaric Alps.

Parts of Prokletije are covered by ancient beech forests that have remained largely untouched for centuries, creating one of the wildest landscapes in the Balkans.

Fun fact: Prokletije is one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in Europe, home to thousands of plant species, including many that grow nowhere else on Earth.

โธป

๐Ÿฆ… 2. Home to rare wildlife

The forests of Prokletije are home to wildlife like brown bears, wolves, chamois, golden eagles, and even the elusive Balkan lynx, one of Europeโ€™s rarest wild cats.

Despite being one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Europe, Prokletije still receives only a fraction of the visitors that famous alpine destinations do.

Scientists have recorded an incredible variety of butterflies, birds, and alpine flowers in Prokletije, making it a paradise not only for hikers but also for nature lovers and photographers.

Some adventures stay with you long after youโ€™ve left.

Prokletije National Park was one of those places.

I came here with my friends, expecting incredible views, but I left with so much more. Every trail brought a new challenge, every summit revealed another breathtaking panorama, and along the way I met amazing people who made the journey even more memorable.

The climb wasnโ€™t easy, but moments like these remind you that the best views are often the ones you have to earn.

Fun fact: Prokletije literally translates to โ€œThe Accursed Mountains.โ€ in Serbian language.According to local legends, these rugged peaks were once considered nearly impossible to cross because of their harsh terrain. Today, theyโ€™re known as one of the most spectacular parts of the Dinaric Alps, often compared to the Alps themselvesโ€”but without the crowds.

This was my first time exploring Prokletije, and it definitely wonโ€™t be my last.

Despite their wild appearance, these mountains are one of the most biologically diverse regions in Europe, home to rare plants, wildlife, and centuries-old mountain villages.

Would you take on the challenge of hiking the โ€œAccursed Mountainsโ€? โ›ฐ๏ธ

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ Sofia wasnโ€™t even supposed to surprise meโ€ฆ

But thatโ€™s exactly what happened.

I arrived expecting a quick city walk and a few nice photos. Instead, I found a capital full of energy, history, and little surprises around every corner.

The highlight?

Standing in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

And trust me, photos donโ€™t do it justice.

Fun fact: this is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world and can hold around 10,000 people inside. Its golden domes have become one of the most recognizable symbols of Bulgaria, and you can spot them from all over the city.

From there, I just kept walking.

No strict plan.
No checklist.

Just exploring.

Colorful streets.
Historic buildings.
Hidden details.
Street art.
Local cafeฬs.
Random moments that make a city feel alive.

Thatโ€™s when Sofia really started to grow on me.

One thing I learned while visiting: Sofia is one of Europeโ€™s oldest capitals, with a history stretching back more than 7,000 years. In fact, the cityโ€™s motto is โ€œEver Growing, Never Aging.โ€

And honestly? It fits perfectly.

You can feel centuries of history around you, but at the same time the city feels young, vibrant, and full of life.

Sometimes the best travel experiences arenโ€™t the places everyone talks about.

Theyโ€™re the cities that quietly exceed every expectation.

Sofia was one of those cities for me.

Somewhere above the streets of Ljubljana, even the pigeons have a better view than most people. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿฐ

I was walking around Ljubljana Castle when this little guy casually landed like he owns the placeโ€ฆ and honestly, maybe he does.
Thatโ€™s what I love about travel โ€” sometimes the best moments arenโ€™t the famous landmarks, but the random seconds in between.

JUST A RANDOM PICTURE IN MY GALLERY wakes up some memories.

Quiet views, old walls, fresh air, and one pigeon living its best life above the city. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎโœจ

Ljubljana surprised me in the best way possible. Calm, cinematic, and full of details you notice only when you slow down.

Nobody prepared me for how insane this would look in real lifeโ€ฆ

We walked into the Vasa Museum expecting a quick museum visit during our time in Stockholm ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช

Then suddenlyโ€ฆ
you see it.

A gigantic warship from 1633 rising out of the darkness like something from a movie.

And trust me โ€” no picture on Instagram can prepare you for the actual size of this thing.
Itโ€™s massive.
The kind of massive that makes you stop walking for a second just to take it in.

The craziest part?
This ship sank on its very first journeyโ€ฆ and stayed underwater for more than 300 years before being recovered almost completely intact.

Walking through the museum felt less like sightseeing and more like time travel.
Every floor revealed new details โ€” ancient carvings, cannons, stories of the crew, tiny pieces of a world that existed almost 400 years ago.

Outside, Stockholm feels modern, calm, organized.
Inside this museum, you suddenly feel the power, ambition, and chaos of another century.

This honestly became one of the most unforgettable experiences of my trip.
Not because itโ€™s famousโ€ฆ
but because moments like this remind you why traveling the world never gets boring. ๐ŸŒ

Thereโ€™s always another story waiting behind a random door somewhere.

More places, stories, and moments like this coming soon.
Follow the journey here & on YouTube ๐ŸŽฅ

Would you step on a ship from the 1600s if you had the chance? ๐Ÿ‘‡
