🌸 A Tree Full of Gladiolus? Only in Nijmegen! 🌸

Spotted this cheerful tree in the middle of Marikenstraat—packed with over 500 gladiolus flowers! It’s all part of the festive vibes during the Four Days Marches.
Together with hundreds more in the flower beds, this colorful surprise was made by IDI-Project to celebrate Nijmegen's biggest week. 🎉

The gladiolus stands for strength and victory—walkers are handed bunches at the finish line on the famous Via Gladiola.
This tree brings that feeling right into the heart of the city. Love it!

🎒 Saksische Zwitserland – wandelen langs wonderlijke rotsen

Een parel voor wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers: de Saksische Zwitserland in Duitsland. Bekend om de spectaculaire Basteibrug en bizarre rotsformaties. Maar… hoe pak je het handig aan?

🅿️ Parkeren? Slim aanpakken.
Er is een grote parkeerplaats aan het begin van het gebied. Van daaruit brengen pendelbussen je naar het startpunt van de wandeling. Maar let op:
➡️ In het voor- en naseizoen kun je vaak beter doorrijden naar de voorste parkeerplaats – dichter bij het echte begin van de route. Want zeg nou zelf: je komt voor de rotsen, niet voor de parkeerplaatsen.

☕ Voorzieningen bij het beginpunt
Bij het startpunt vind je toiletten, een restaurantje en zelfs voor minder mobiele bezoekers is er al een prachtig uitzichtpunt.

🥾 Voor wandelaars:
Loop vanaf het uitzichtpunt door tot aan een splitsing:
🔸 Rechts: richting het dorp.
🔸 Links: een indrukwekkende wandeling langs de rotsen en door het bos.

⚠️ Niet té onderschatten – deze route kent veel trappen en hoogteverschillen. Maar wie doorzet wordt beloond met adembenemende uitzichten.

✨ Onze tip: Ga vroeg, buiten het hoogseizoen, en neem je tijd. Hier wil je niet doorheen jagen.

At the trailhead: toilets, snacks, and an accessible viewpoint.

1. How long does the Škocjan Caves tour take?
Around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the chosen route.

2. Do I need to book tickets in advance?
Yes, especially in high season — tours often sell out.

3. Is it suitable for kids or people afraid of heights?
It might be scary for small children. The bridge over the canyon is breathtaking but can be challenging for those with fear of heights.

4. How cold is it inside the caves?
About 12°C (54°F) — bring a jacket or sweater, even in summer.
