Finally home — back from the City & Regional Magazine Association’s annual 3-day conference. This is their 48th year doing this, so there was a lot of old and new talent. It had a focus on A.I., monetization models, branding, and content production (especially videos and podcasts). Some great keynote speakers, including executives from the @marketing.ai, @voxmedia, @texasmonthly, @washingtonianmag, and many more. I attended with @reganoliviawright, Hour Media’s PR Lead, as well as the Director of Professional Research Services (PRS, which is a subsidiary of Hour Media) @sofster91, PRS Lead @krispys_world, Hour Detroit’s editor-in-chief Kate Walsh (left), and the publisher of all of our Michigan-based magazines Jason Hosko (center). There was a ton of learning and networking — the main thing it’s made me realize is just how much I have I have to learn and how much farther I have to go. There are so many brilliant people in this industry.Shoutout to @lovely_lashawn of @washingtonianmag and @aidanmcclain of @pittsburghmagazine for going on side quests with me. by @travis.marcus.fletcher

This was really cool. Since it was the 50th anniversary of CRMA, they marked the occasion in a very New Orleans way: a police-escorted parade down Royal Street with a marching band and hundreds of editors, publishers, designers, and executives from across the country. It ended at Galerie de Galatoire for cocktails and food.New Orleans was beautiful, extremely hot, and full of character. I was there with my colleague Erica Banas, and we managed to see a little bit of the city.Lots of character and some very friendly people. by @travis.marcus.fletcher

I spent a few days in New Orleans for the 50th annual City and Regional Magazine Association conference, representing Hour Media Group. This was my third year attending CRMA — Cleveland, Denver, and now New Orleans. There were sessions on audience, brand safety, creator collaborations, artificial intelligence, nonprofit partnerships, events, alternative digital activations, and a whole lot more.Since this was CRMA’s 50th anniversary, there was also a little New Orleans-style celebration mixed in — including a police-escorted parade through the French Quarter with a marching band. šŸ„šŸŽŗMore on that in the next post.Very tired. Very sore. Very glad I went. by @travis.marcus.fletcher

The 2026 Best of Detroit Party was a sold-out hit. The Michigan marketing & events team put so much work into this and it really paid off. Incredible stuff, they never miss.Best of Detroit really is a year-round, full-company affair so big props to the editorial team (BOD is an editorial program), the art team, my digital team (that builds the ballots, counts the votes, and does a lot to promote alongside marketing), the Media Advisor team who do so much to make sure these events are fun and profitable. And a big shoutout to all of our vendors and sponsors, especially presenting sponsor Somerset Collection, as well as the staff of the Westin Book Cadillac. What a night. Can you believe the summer is just getting started? by @travis.marcus.fletcher

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to speak at Oakland University quite a bit—networking nights, panels, and a lot of conversations with students and faculty.Today I can announce that I’ve been invited to become a member of the Professional Advisory Council for OU’s Communications, Journalism, and Public Relations department. I’ll be serving from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2028.A good portion of my employees, contractors, and interns come from OU, and I’ve come to really love the school. I’m looking forward to expanding the graduate-to-industry pipeline and helping however I can.A very sincere thank you to my friends Dr. Valerie Palmer-Mehta and Dr. Chiaoning Su, as well as chairwoman Dr. Kathleen Battles. by @travis.marcus.fletcher
