You can usually spot experience before the first song is over 😂

What gives away an inexperienced musician to you?

Musicians… what would YOU add to this list? 😂🎸

I already know some of you are gonna come for me over number 3 😂

What would YOU add to the list?

Unpopular opinion 😬 Stop saving your best songs for the last set.

1. The owner is watching your first set
2. Half the room is gone by the last one

Open strong, or save the best for last? Tell me 👇

Send this to whoever builds your setlist.

3 things that make you sound AMATEUR at a gig 🎤

3. Too loud for the room
2. Songs that fizzle out
1. Forcing the original key 🔥 (guilty 🙋‍♂️)

Original key like a purist, or drop it to fit your voice? Tell me 👇

Send this to the singer who needs to hear it.

You can play guitar for 30 years and still look like a beginner 👀

3. Staring at your fretting hand
2. Gain on 10
1. Only playing solos note for note 🔥

Note for note, or make it your own? Tell me in the comments 👇

Send this to the guitarist whose gain lives on 10.

1 is gonna get me in trouble 😬

3 things that make you look desperate as a musician:
3. Begging for tips on the mic
2. Messaging venues nonstop
1. Playing for free

And yes, I played for free for years. Was it paying my dues, or was it hurting the scene? Tell me where you land 👇

Send this to the bandmate who reminds everyone to tip every three songs.

3 things that scream AMATEUR at a gig

3. Apologizing for mistakes
2. Dead air between songs
1. The iPad on the music stand (I use one too. It’s how you use it.)

Where do you land on the iPad? And what else am I missing? 👇
Send this to the bandmate who apologizes into the mic.

Things the crowd does that drive musicians CRAZY

3. Putting drinks on gear
2. “What’s your real job?”
1. Trying to get on stage

Musicians, what did I miss? Concert goers, which one are you guilty of? Tag the friend who always ends up on stage.

Playing originals at a bar gig is selfish. I spent 15 years touring on originals and I’m still saying it.

3. People came to sing along
2. The owner booked covers
1. Your songs deserve better

Do you sneak originals into your cover gigs? Defend it in the comments, and send this to the bandmate who always tries to slip one in.

Signs YOU’RE the problem in your band 👀

3. Everyone else is always wrong
2. “Networking” at the bar
1. Learning songs at rehearsal

Be honest, which one are you? Tag the bandmate who’s all three.
