My newest record, ‘Negation,’ has been out for a week. Extracted and presented here from the full album stream (on my YT channel) is the closing epic, “Negation Represses.” I tried to capture as much additional footage that I could, along with the customary drum tracking, excluding the 12-tone chord-cluster quote of “The Grinder” that I recreated with my voice (at 9:45). I guess you’ll just have to imagine 12 mini-Travises in PIPs. Actually, don’t do that, that’s weird. by @travisorbin

This record is an exploration of contrast: dynamics, genre, mood, production aesthetics, tempo, consonance and dissonance. Creating it was a largely extemporaneous, spontaneous endeavor, reminiscent of my previous efforts ‘Elsewhere in the Nowhere’ and ‘The Soundtrack of Nonexistence.’ From expansive, unfurling ambient wastelands, to gritty beats, jouncy electronica, ominous soundscapes, with musique concrète, alluring film-score-esque pieces, demented ditties, and live instrumentation, it’s a right heapin’ olla podrida fit for music lovers that have still retained an un-flouncing focus. And that isn’t an underhanded barb, as this is quite an investment at two hours in length. Enjoy. by @travisorbin

My newest record, ‘Dissimulated; Decorticated,’ has been out for a week. Extracted and presented here from the full album stream (on my YT channel) is “Nihil Dicit.” This ripsnorter has stratified oddities such as a bird call that I voice-memo-ed in Medellín, treated feedback from a hot microphone, and quasi-Tuvan drones. I even cozened @john_b_henry into contributing. What a gallimaufry!

The cover art was constructed over a period of five days in a mixed-media modality; the title of the album emerged during the process. It’s composed of both oil and acrylic paint, plastilina, charcoal, tissue paper, coffee grounds, and dirt and various foliage. Observe the third slide for an ‘in-person’ visage. by @travisorbin

Another tour has reached its inevitable terminus, and I’m setting off homeward. My favorite photo from this run is a chance shot from the crowd, a rare stage-smile caught by @karenn.ann / Karen Marsden at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA.

In addition, while I cannot move mountains, I’m attempting to hurl a landform’s worth of gratitude at @pearl_drums for my new Crystal Beat drums. After touring on a Vision kit for over a decade, I was seeking something still understated yet with a twinkle of pizzazz; the ‘liquid smoke’ color delivered the goods. The tones are also superb. The bass drum possesses a pleasing midrange (sans basketball bounce), and the tom-toms are robust and punchy. by @travisorbin
