Indigenous leaders, business executives, investors, and government leaders sat at the same table for our event, Building Together: Indigenous Partnership and Equity in Canada's Major Projects. It was a great conversation about how major projects can be built together with Indigenous communities.

Highlights of the day included:
🤝 Moving past duty-to-consult toward earlier engagement, shared decision-making, and the project certainty that comes with it
💰 Opening up capital access, equity participation, and procurement for Indigenous communities and businesses
👷 Building pathways to attract, retain, and upskill Indigenous talent across major projects

Thank you to our speakers and to our Presenting Partners, AtkinsRéalis, Indigenous Community Engagement (ICE), Suslop Inc., and Ontario Power Generation, our event partners, Alstom, Arcadis, Bruce Power, Enbridge, and Marsh, and our host partners, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and Green Infrastructure Partners. by @trbot

Ontario’s industrial economy is facing a critical test.
The latest episode of Toronto Talks tackles the pressures facing some of the province’s largest employers.
Our President and CEO, Giles Gherson, sits down with Brad Duguid, President of the Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario.
With aggressive trade and tariff policy coming from the U.S. and electricity costs rising at home, they examine the risk of deindustrialization, what is driving the projected increase in power prices and how Ontario can protect jobs and investment while building the energy system it needs for the future. Yesterday we convened Board members, business leaders and policymakers for our annual Policy Priorities Setting Session at a defining moment for Toronto, Ontario and Canada.
“Economic shocks require policy moments,” said our President and CEO, Giles Gherson, calling for an all-hands-on-deck growth strategy focused on productivity, competitiveness and economic growth.
Premier Doug Ford delivered a special address on protecting Ontario’s workers and businesses amid escalating U.S. tariffs and building a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy through investment, infrastructure, internal trade, energy and talent.
We also heard from Ray Williams, President and Founder of Music Marketing, on building and competing globally from Ontario, while Dr. Steven Murphy, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ontario Tech University, highlighted the role of talent and innovation in Ontario’s competitiveness.
With Toronto’s municipal election approaching, Ben Mulroney moderated a timely discussion with Amanda Galbraith, Dan Moulton and Kim Wright on what the next mayor and council must deliver: more housing, faster movement of people and goods, reliable public services, sustainable municipal finances and an environment that attracts investment. All key themes from the Board’s What at Stake municipal election campaign.
Following the public program, our Policy Committee Members came together for an open, interactive session to discuss what is changing across their sectors, the biggest opportunities ahead and where the Board and its members can make the greatest difference. The discussion focused on:
Energy, mining and resources
Transportation and infrastructure
Housing and land use
Talent
AI and innovation
The regulatory environment
What we heard will help shape the Board’s policy and advocacy agenda and our work to make the Toronto region one of the most competitive in the world.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our Event Partners, Music Marketing and Ontario Tech University, and our Host Partners, Emera and NextEra Energy, for making this session possible. by @trbot

Our latest Toronto Talks looks at how @407etr manages demand, maintains reliability and fits into the region’s wider transportation network.
407 ETR President and CEO Jose Espinosa joins Giles Gherson to explain why pricing matters when road space is limited, what it takes to operate a 108-kilometre highway through an Ontario winter and what he learned managing toll roads in Spain, Australia and the United States.
They also discuss the highway's role in moving transit passengers and the technology behind the world’s first all-electronic, open-access highway. Listen at link in bio or wherever you get your podcasts! by @trbot

Hear our latest Toronto Talks episode: Building AI-Fluent Organizations: Where AI Becomes a Superpower. Listen at link in bio.

Most companies are treating AI adoption like a software purchase. Disco's @candicefaktor argues that's exactly where it falls apart.

She joins Jon Worren (@worrenjon) from World Trade Centre Toronto to make the case that AI fluency is a human problem first, a tools question a distant second. She also lays out the kind of leadership it actually demands. This episode was recorded during @torontotechweek by @trbot
