Finally got my plaques for the Sounds of Bassline compilations & Pure Bassline! (Only took me fifteen years lol)Still crazy to think of the things we all did in Bassline at such a young age! Having the most songs on both of the SOBs is still one of my greatest achievements to this day and I’m forever grateful to everyone I worked with along the journey, still can’t believe our songs are getting spun today! This is a reminder that whatever you do to document your wins, and get your accolades. TRC: Oo Aa EeHailing from Wolverhampton, TRC stands tall as one of the most prominent producers in Bassline — yet his work within Grime often goes overlooked. Surrounded by music from an early age, he began producing at just sixteen, experimenting with Reason to craft his first instrumentals. Not long after, he joined the Midlands Grime collective TYG, immersing himself deeper into the Grime scene.TRC’s passion for Grime grew stronger through his experiences at Birmingham’s infamous Oxygen Rooms, a hotspot for the genre’s early nights. It was there that he connected with MCs like Merkury. By the age of seventeen, he had refined his production process — programming drums in Reason while using Logic for everything else.At this stage, TRC was producing both Grime and Bassline, often blending the two. His track “Oo Aa Ee” is a perfect example of this crossover: structurally a Grime beat, but driven by an unmistakable Bassline wobble. Instrumentals like “Oo Aa Ee,” made when he was just seventeen, quickly became favourites among Midlands MCs, though they wouldn’t receive wider recognition until around 2010.That year, Elijah and Skilliam’s label Butterz picked up some of TRC’s productions, including “Oo Aa Ee.” The label went on to release a VIP, as well as Royal T and D.O.K remixes of the track, with DJs such as Spyro, EZ, and JJ offering heavy support. Elijah originally sent over a rough webcam sketch to the designer, emphasizing simplicity for the artwork, a design philosophy that would later carry through to his “Make The Ting” project.More than a decade later, “Oo Aa Ee” remains one of the Midlands’ most important anthems. A testament to TRC’s talent, versatility and influence across both Grime and Bassline. by @trcproducer
