Every single page of The Invisible Backpack exists because of one incredibly talented artist: Trea Bailey.

Trea is the illustrator who turned this story into a world kids could actually step into — and getting to watch him meet the families who’ve fallen in love with his artwork at our release party was a moment we’ll never forget.

If you don’t already know his work, Trea has spent his career as a visual development artist, character designer, and 2D animator on projects like Disney’s Disenchanted, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Magic: The Gathering, Sesame Street, Warner Bros., and so many more. And somehow, with all of that on his resume, he brought the same heart and care to our little touring-family story that he brings to the biggest names in animation.

Trea, thank you for giving The Invisible Backpack its heart on every page, and for being part of this celebration with us. We are so lucky.

Go give him some love!! → @treabaileyart taken in Homestead Manor by @treabailey

A few shots from my trip to Indy with my mom last weekend. I need to be better about taking and posting more photos, but it was really great to see old friends and my hometown and church… I even got to watch the @indianafever @sophie_cham and @caitlinclark22 in person (in the video of her, I KNEW she’d hit that shot because she’d just gotten ticked at the ref 😂 Angry CC is deadly)— they’re gonna crush it this season 🔥 Oh, and of course the obligatory giant pork tenderloin sandwich on the way back to Nashville. 🙌 taken in Gainbridge Fieldhouse by @treabailey

This past weekend I got to hang with the animation and art community in and around Nashville as well as all the visitors from around the country— and world!— at @animationyall expo right here in Nashville! Made and deepened friendships, met some heroes, and got the share my experience with students and aspiring artists. Truly, it brought me the most joy I’ve experienced in months. Biggest shoutout to @rricotta for being there every minute, the best hang, and the coolest dude in the whole joint— wouldn’t have made it through without ya, dude.

Check out more of my art @treabaileyart if you’d like! taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @treabailey

A special night celebrating one of my favorite people, Mr. John Pomeroy. I kinda have this running list of extraordinarily gifted people whose talent is only surpassed by their character/godliness and who they are as a person, and John is certainly on that list. He’s been a beloved teacher, mentor, counselor, and dear friend… Happy 75th Birthday, Prof. Pomeroy.

Made a trip down to Muscle Shoals, Alabama this weekend, and it was so worth the trip— even the drive down was beautiful. I started a little later than I should have, so I wasn’t able to hit MSSS or get the tour at the Rosenbaum House (Frank Lloyd Wright), so I’ll be back. But Fame Studios was incredible and the lovely folks at Helen Keller’s birthplace were great. Learned a lot and happy to know so much history is so close to home! taken in FAME Recording Studios & Publishing Co. by @treabailey

A little Saturday trip to the capitol building… strange how many things I’d do if I were in a different city but never think to do in my own town. It’s a good spot to catch the sunset, too… taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @treabailey

So glad to have found @swingtime_midtn and @musiccityswingdance — got all dressed up and met some wonderful folks, had some really fun dances, and am going to sleep well after about two and half hours of dancing courtesy of 5 Points Swing. Honestly, just what I needed. Let me know if you want to join next time! taken in Nolensville Historical Society by @treabailey
