With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Dorrell, a true beacon of light, who departed from this world on November 18th, 2024, at the Colorado Veterans Community living center in Rifle leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Barbara was born on January 19th, 1934, to Pauline and Raymond Welsh in Bakersfield, California. Barbara spent her childhood in California and then later on settled in Colorado. She graduated from Rifle Union High School in 1951. She met her husband Richard (Dickie) Dorrell and married in Rifle at the Methodist Church. They had two children, daughter Connie (Russ) Guerette of Rifle Colorado and Arthur Dorrell of Mesquite Nevada. Barbara was employed in secretarial positions throughout her working career and retired from Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado. Barbara was a woman of great faith who attended and played the organ at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for many years. You can find her name among her loved ones in the beautifully stained glass windows. Some would say she was one of the best piano teachers around. Barbara and Richard built and enjoyed their beautiful home and their "air mailbox" on top of 7th Street. They also owned and operated the Wine Cellar in Rifle for many years. She walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with an unforgettable grace. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before herself.

Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile that brightened her blue eyes and her gentle wave. Whether it was while swinging clubs on the golf course, cheering for her broncos, taking her daily walk to the post office, or relaxing on her porch with her iced tea. She created a warmth that enveloped our family like a comforting embrace.

Known for her love of the piano, fishing, golfing, and her Broncos, Barbara was a kind soul but also had an adventurous side. She enjoyed many years of boating where she would routinely water ski, loved to river raft big water, many years of hunting big game, as well as snowmobiling and was one of the few that parasailed behind snowmobiles on Coulter Mesa! She was always up for new adventures, by @treavaguerette

My truest of true! I have never felt love so genuine than I do from these two. True love and true honesty is hard to find on this earth.

When one of us is at our lowest of lows, the other two gently bring the one back up to their highest. The three of us are bonded together like a triangle, any weight put on one is evenly distributed on all sides and together we mend and heal.

Their presence calms my mind, heart, and soul. And forever thankful I will be❣️ by @treavaguerette
