Everybody needs a Nii Trebi Hammond

I met Trebi @trebihammond during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he brought me onto his Virtual Youth Conference to perform. I did not know then that I had met a brother who would keep finding ways to make my world bigger.

Years before my poetry travelled as far as it has today, Trebi was the first to give my art a global voice, opening a door that placed my work alongside writers from across Africa.

Today, I watch with pride as that same brother continues to make his own mark as a broadcast journalist and more.

For the quiet ways you have stood in my corner through the years, I am deeply grateful, Trebi.

A Lesson! A Legacy! A Life That Speaks! ❤️

Today, as we celebrate our Director, we also celebrate the many lessons he has imparted through his words, his leadership, his wisdom, and even the little things he does every day.

Over time, the NextGen team has taken away something different from working with and learning from him—lessons that have shaped how we think, lead, work, serve, and navigate life.

So, in honour of his birthday, we asked members of the team:

“What is one lesson you have learnt from the Director?”

The answers may be different, but they all point to one thing: his impact goes beyond the workplace.

Today, I paused my show to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk.

Some people inspire you from a distance. Some challenge you to build something of your own.

@charliekirk1776 was one of those people for me.

His courage to organise young people, build a movement around ideas, and encourage a generation to participate in shaping the future has been a major inspiration for the movement we are building.

We may come from different countries and different contexts, but the conviction that young people can be organised, equipped and mobilised to make a difference is universal.

Today, I remember Charlie Kirk, not only for what he believed, but for what he built and the young people he inspired.

May his legacy continue to inspire a generation. 🕊️

“And how shall they hear without a preacher?” — Romans 10:14

By the grace of God, the Lord has found me worthy to send.

Tomorrow, I have the privilege of standing before the people of Kingdom Diplomat Revival Center to declare the Word of the Lord.

I do not come trusting in the eloquence of men, but in the power of the Word which God has placed in my mouth. There is a word for His people in this season, a word appointed for such a time as this.

My prayer is that Christ will be exalted, hearts will be stirred, faith will arise, and lives will be transformed by the truth of His Word.

“Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!” — 1 Corinthians 9:16
