Meet the Tahitian chestnut tree or as we call it in Indonesia, pohon gayam! 🙌🌳Locals say planting gayam is like “planting water” because of its remarkable ability to store water through its deep, strong roots. Did you know that not all mangroves have the iconic stilt roots? 🤔Meet Bruguiera gymnorhiza, also known as the putut tree, a remarkable mangrove species with distinctive knee roots that plays a vital role in protecting our coastlines. 🌱🏖️Growing in the middle zone of mangrove forests, this species helps stabilize soil, reduce coastal erosion, provide habitat for coastal wildlife, and store significant amounts of carbon that help mitigate climate change. Training Session with the Bogor Agricultural University! 🎓🌳🌱As part of the preparation for the 2026–2027 planting season, our field team recently participated in a tree maintenance and protection training led by academics from the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) 👨‍🏫📚.The training covered ten key topics, ranging from proper watering techniques to pest and disease management.
